My own take:
I think I’m a pecuilar case. I have a mediocre GPA and if you saw my full transcript, you would see some odd situations (an A in AP European History to a really bad grade in Anatomy/Physiology, for example). My test scores are probably good enough for those schools and hopefully they are rising. My extras probably aren’t so impressive, but I know I can get some good recommendations. So basically, I’m just unsure about my chances. I would rank them in order of my chances as: 1. Arizona 2. Hofstra 3. American 4. Texas 5. Miami. I am interested in double majoring in a type of business and radio/television/film (also called media arts, visual media or visual communication) and possible minor in Jewish studies. I will need financial aid but not sure how much. And I am applying to as many scholarships I can find that I’m eligible for. So what are my chances?

Also, I think I can bring my GPA up senior year and maybe find time for some more extras. Please respond.

bump. Sorry, but I really want some input.

Please? Anybody?

get that SAT above 1250. you seem smart. hopefully you did it.
yeah it’s kinda weird that ur in so many IB classes but ur gpa/rank are so low.
i only know a lot about UT and Miami and i would tell you that you’re about 50/50 right now at those too, especially if ur OOS at UT.

Thanks for your respnse, token89. I can explain my grades being low, sort of. First of all, I’m a terrible math/science student. My grades in my math/science classes range from terrible to barely decent (Geometry, Anatomy, Biology - terrible, Chemistry, Precal - mediocre, Algebra II - barely decent). And these aren’t AP or IB courses, so it’s a lot more harmful to do worst in them than in APs or IBs. As far as Social Studies, English, French and electives go, I have only made As and Bs, but a lot more Bs than I would have liked. I have fallen into some “Larry David” situations (watch Curb Your Enthusiasm if you don’t understand my reference), where I have missed class and doing well on a test that class would have allowed me to maintain an A - situations like that. And imagine the frustration if you make an 89 (highest B number grade) freshman year, 2nd semester in history, english and french. It’s pretty frustrating. So in a lot of my classes, I’ve been so close yet so far away. Obviously, I should have put more effort into studying, but nevertheless, there are Bs that could have been As, and that’s one whole point on GPA. As for the IB stuff, I go to an IB Diploma Programme school, and everyone else in my grade, which is only about 80 students is eyeing for the diploma as well and most of them have made better grades than me. Keep in mind that I have only taken 3 IB classes so far; the rest are this coming year. Hopefully, I can do a lot better with my grades this coming year, and I’m doing some extra studying in the summer to help me achieve my goal. As for the SAT, only four more days until the June test results are posted online. I am counting down the hours.

haha bump again. Please…

come on? anyone? please?

Update: June SAT scores - I did worst in every section, will take again in October. June ACT scores - 28, better in every section. So now, will someone chance me?

Arizona and Hofstra appear to be matches. My sister was like 1180 and only a few ec’s and Hofstra was giving her like 8k a year. *maybe it was 4k i get that and Temple (where she’s going) confused)

You have a decent shot at all of your listed schools. I know many people with similar stats who have had little difficulty getting in.

I think the best way to improve your resume is to raise your standardized test scores. You seem like a student with potential. Tell me how things turn out!

Thanks for your replies!

Update. Good news! I’m an AP scholar. Here are the results of the 4 AP exams I have taken (including European History, which I took during my sophmore year but waited to report until I found out this year’s results).

AP Euro 4
AP Language 4
AP U.S. History 4
AP Human Geography 2 - Maybe, I’ll cancel this one.

Still have more to take next year. So more comments please…particulary on American - I am very interested in it.
