my chances

I have taken the SATI two times already.

The first time
CR:540
M:610
W:560
Total:1150/1710

The second time
CR:560
M:610
W:650
Total:1170/1820

Granted, compared to most of you here, these scores are not the greatest but… I have plenty of “the package” to back my scores up (tons of clubs, leadership, sports, 3.9/4GPA)

My questions: are these scores enough to get into a state school such as Rutgers or The College of New Jersey? Should I take them again in October, or do colleges look down upon those who take them more than twice? Also, if I do take them again in October, do school usually average the scores, take the highest in each section, or take the highest total from a single test? Thanks to anyone who replies!

hi lindsay–

most schools will take the highest combined score, and they don’t care how many times you’ve taken the test. this is particularly likely to be true of state schools. of course, the best thing you could do is call up the schools you’re interested in and ask them what their SAT policies are.

the way i see it, it can never hurt to have a higher SAT score. i’d recommend you take it again. better safe than sorry.

thank you for replying
