Ok, I haven’t taken the SAT yet, but the PSAT and all the practice test I have been doing for past few months show I can get around 650 on Reading, 800 on math, 550 for Writing.
I got 800 on SAT2 Math Level II, 800 on Chinese, 750 on Bio.
5 for AP bio, 4 for AP macroeconomics(I don’t think colleges care about those? do they?)
I haven’t took the ACT yet.
I do have extra activities in school, like Journalism for 2 years. In the local math league.
My GPA are like in the 80s.
I have contributed to open source program(joined the The Google Highly Open Participation Contest, even though I didn’t win)… kept a blog with programming information and stuff (I heard colleges sometimes check those.)
I also play piano and got into level 8 in China(some kind of strange test where I play songs and judges decide if I pass or not, the highest one can get is level 10).

And now, after I look at these. I found I’m not likely to get into some good college. MIT, Caltech, Carnegie Mellon.

Since this is my Junior year, it almost can determine where I will go, My question is, should I work more on my SATs? it’s not likely it will improve by a lot, because English is my 2nd language. Or should I start work on some other things, because if I can find something else impress colleges a lot, I might have chances.

For example, Becoming National AP Scholar, getting into USAMO + join all kind of math competitions I can get into(shows I’m competitive), Taking the GRE mathematics + computer science subject test(I believe I can get around 600 on both)
Does those will improve my chances more than getting like 100 point better on the SATs?
