Hello! I’m new at this whole “college thing” and I would like some help in estimating my chances for acceptance at my top choice colleges: Amherst College and Bowdoin College. Based on my profile, which colleges should I consider? I would like to stay close to New England.

Also, I plan on raising my ACT score: I took the test the first time not knowing ANYTHING about its format (I earned a composite score of 30), but now I have a book that I’m using to study. I took the SATs twice, but I found that my scores were average (600 to 690 for each component) and I was better-suited towards the ACT.

Do you think that my NOT playing a varsity/junior varsity sport in high school will effect my admissions chances? I have been an active dancer for almost 15 years.

Thank you for all of those that respond, and best wishes to all of you!
