I think it’s safety if your in state
OOS, safety or low match

thank you and yes i am instate

You really think this is a saftey, raiderade? Unless you have an almost flawless resume, I dont think UF is a saftey for anyone.

To OP: It looks like you have a pretty good chance, at least as good a chance as anyone. I am applying to UF right now and the difficulty of my courseload is a little higher than yours as well as my GPA, but my test scores are a little lower than yours. It’s just hard to say, with cuts in enrollment and budget costs… so who knows. But apply early, and you have a pretty decent shot, I think. Good luck!

probably in ;)

• Nomination to Who’s Who Among American High School Students
• Nomination to the National Young Leaders Conference 2007
• Nomination to the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine 2007
• Nominated to The National Society of High School Scholars

These should not be listed as ‘awards’ on your application. They are not prestigious and waste valuable space that you could use for elaboration on your other activities! :)

thanks for the input
and thanks anne for the advice :)

Just look at least year’s Freshmen profile and the % of applicants with your GPA and test score who got admitted.

[University of Florida - Admissions](Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida)

I don’t think you will have the test scores. Remember UF is cutting 1,000 from the next entering class. The acceptance rate should be under 30%.

There’s not enough room on the application to put all those extracurriculars. I could only fit three. Pick and choose which ones are most important to you.

Get your ACT or SAT scores up, and you should have a good chance.

I think you have a great shot, budget cuts or not! I know 3 people who got in this fall with a 1020,1070 and 1080 SAT scores. I was at a function this weekend and speaking to an old friend who is a department head at UF and has been there for over 20 years. He told me that GPA is number ONE and having an awesome essay is number TWO! Funny, the three kids I mention with the lower scores had fabulous GPAs and great essays (from what I understand since I did not read them).

Please don’t give up!!

I suppose that makes sense. If you look at the UF freshman profile, something like 87% of students with a GPA of 4.0 or over got in. That’s encouraging news for me, considering my GPA is 4.5 =)

safety, hahahaha.

I had a better rank, more volunteer hours, higher GPA, better resume, and way higher SAT scores and didn’t get in. I don’t think my essay was that well written though. You should take off some of your awards… it looks too padded.

Bottom line a 1270 is just not gonna cut it (perhaps you should try FSU or UCF). Get the score higher if you can.

wow thank you for all the replies and input, i hope my scores do go up though.

just to let you know I realize my scores aren’t great, but one of my friends got in with a 1190 last year and similar extracurriculars. and the 28 is technically higher then the 28, only by 10 SAT points though :)

I’m not sure why so many of you are saying that a 1270 won’t cut it… Sure, it’s not super high, but according to the College Board the average at UF is 1140-1360. So I’d say that she has a decent chance.

Those are really old stats. In 2005 we admitted 55% of our applicants, and last year we only admitted 36.9% of all FTIC applicants.

The last class had an admitted SAT profile of: 1210 - 1400 on the SAT. The next class will have atleast 1,000 less applicants admitted. Thus we are looking to admit about 5,000 new FTIC students, and I guarantee an acceptance rate of below 30%.

Oh ok. But still, a 1270 is well within the current average. I wouldn’t count on being admitted by any means, but there’s still a decent chance.

I guess anything is possible.
