My chances?

I know that everybody and their brother asks this, but I haven’t found another person that falls quite into the exact bracket I’m in, so I figured I had to ask.

Firstly, I plan to apply for Computer Science in SEAS at Columbia (Early Decision [about 150 out of 500 accepted]).

I know that Columbia places a big emphasis on uniqueness and personality as well as aptitude and intelligence. I feel like I have an advantage in this realm because I have alot of experience in the arts despite my decision to go into science. I have had many leading roles in plays and musicals. I have many awards in choral competitions, and next year I will be singing in the New York State High School Choir (NYSSMA).

In addition to this, next year I will be the founder, president, and conductor of a community service a cappella choir which will sing at surrounding nursing homes, soup kitchens, etc.

My GPA is a 100% and I have a loaded schedule with no lunch or study halls filled with AP Courses and Electives (This year AP Psych, US, and Eng Lang /// Next year AP Eng Lit, Govt, Calc, and Physics).
11 out of 185 in class.
I got a 31 on my ACT.
I have a cumulative 2170 on my SATs. (CR-800, M-690, W-680)
SAT IIs: Physics-710 and Math I-660 (I know these are low, and I plan to take them again because I know I can do better. I was fairly unprepared.)

I have some community service experience in Beach Clean-Ups, Pushing Wheelchairs at local Theater Events, Peer Tutoring, and I am a member of Key Club. I also plan to participate at my local soup kitchen this summer and next year I plan to get alot out of my community service a cappella choir next year.

I have many leadership positions:
Freshman Year:
President of Mixed Choir
Treasurer of Student Government
Sophmore Year:
President of Drama Club
Junior Year:
Historian of Student Government
Treasurer of Senior Choir
President of Drama Club
Senior Year:
President of Drama Club
President of Senior Choir
Treasurer of National Honor Society

My extra curriculars include: Drama Club, Senior Choir, Jazz Choir, A cappella choir, Masterminds (Academic Competition), Key Club, National Honor Society, Ski Club

As far as additional qualifications goes:
I had my own clothing company and designed t-shirts using Photoshop CS2.
I have been using HTML and designing websites from a very young age.
I will be the creator of my senior class graduation video.

My essay will be based around the following: Despite the fact that I am passionate about computer science and furthering innovation and technology in that field, I am a one of a kind person and my passion for life inspires me to do everything and anything I can in this world.

Also in the question about why I would like to attend Columbia I plan to take the following route:
“In eigth grade I took a school trip to New York City with a group of foreigh exchange students who were attending my school. During the tour I was inadvertantly separated from the rest of the group and stumbled onto an area which I had never seen before surrounded with beautiful trees and architecture. I stood for a moment and looked around trying to take in everything around me, but our group leader found me moments after, and we left before I could find out what I had just seen. Little did I know when I walked on to Columbia’s grounds for a tour 3 years later, that I had already been there once before.” Then I will continue to talk about more specific ideas.

So, chances?

I would appreciate any help, and ideas for more scientific activities to put on my application.

Thank you!
I’m aware

^WHAT
How do you fill lunch and Study Hall blocks with classes?
At my school, we have to have lunch and study hall

Other than that, I’d say you’d be in the middle 50% of applicants.

ugh. how do you get a perfect score on cr…i envy you.
Sat I’s-Math 770(1 wrong)-Writing 770(2 wrong)-C.Reading 630( TEN wrong :()

ha! i envy your math score! im retaking and im hoping for a 740 or higher. not to mention my math1 subject test is pitiful. :stuck_out_tongue: but we dont have to have lunch or study hall as long as we have a note from our parents okaying it. :)

Sounds great. One suggestion, think about your essay. I don’t know what you plan to do with it, but nothing about it immediately grabs my attention. It’s all about how you spin it, but be careful, you could get clich
