My Chances?

GPA- 3.24
Rank- Third fifth of around 530
Sports- Baseball, Volleyball
Jewish
SATs- 1710 (I know, low.)
ACT- 25 Composite, 27 on the Math/Reading Sections, 26 on Writing. Math and Science Kiled me.

I have been a camp counselor for 2 years.

NROTC/AROTC Scholarship Candidate.

I’d say retake either the SAT or ACT one more time (whichever you feel more comfortable with), it couldn’t hurt. Make sure your essay is strong on your application. But honestly, you really will never know until you apply and hear back from UF on their decision. I’ve known people with both good and not so good stats that have gotten in.

Short answer:
Just apply, everyone has a chance.

Longer answer: As stated above, retake one of the tests. If you have time to go through a practice book. I would strongly recommend Barons. Also, right a great, GREAT essay. It is easily the deciding factor in many cases.

gpowsang

Alright, thanks guys.

Also, does it make a difference in what major I am doing? I plan on majoring on Nuclear Engineering, if that helps/hurts my chances at all, since UF has a big Engineering program.

major is irrelevant for freshman admissions. greater than 60% of college students change their major at least once.

whats your current course load?

My senior schedule is:

Honors Pre Calc
AP Statistics
AP Psychology
Lab Marine Bio/Lab Zoology
Academic Eng. IV
Architecture
Gym/Health.

After Senior Year, I will have taken:
10 Semesters of Math (1 honor, 1 AP)
8 Semesters of Academic English
8 Semesters of Science (All Labs)
6 Semesters of Language
6 Semesters of Academic History
2 Semesters of AP Psychology
8 Semesters of Electives

i took eng at a magnet and it was a definite GPA killer for a lot of people. maybe they’ll notice that. otherwise course rigor is above average, though idk if it was just my district or not, but almost all of my academic courses were designated honors.

Yeah, I was screwed over by my school, because teachers would only let you take an honors course or AP if you had straight A’s, and got approval from your guidance counselor.

This year, they came out with a program and you do it all electronically, which allows you to basically pick your own courses.

If I had been allowed to takes honors and APs before Senior yer, my schedule would look A LOT different.
