<p>I think that’s an artifact of the large overlap of the science/computer geek and the sci fi/fantasy geek populations. BTW mathson used “geek” as one of the three words to describe himself on one of his applications.</p>
<p>My son thinks I’m nuts for engaging in online discussion. He says he’s ‘been there done that’ and it’s a royal waste of time, because you get all worked up in some debate, and make some excellent points, and then a few days later the entire thread disappears, and then later a new thread appears on the same topic with someone else, and it starts all over again. He thinks it’s pointless and a waste of time.</p>
<p><sigh> Aside from specific questions, for which I HAVE gotten some very good advice from people on this forum, I sometimes wonder if I should learn from my son in this case.</sigh></p>

<p>I asked my son to translate. Unless totes ridic means “huh” we’re clueless in VA. (lol) But thanks, you’ve given me a whole new set of vocabulary to use to drive them crazy. I can’t wait!!!</p>

<p>My H and S think I’m a little off too, but since they spend at least as much time on the internet as I do, they don’t have much ground to stand on. I have learned a lot here and some of it definitely has helped my son, so THANKS!!</p>
