Rutgers was named 4x.
Fordham was named 2x.
Maryland was named just 1x.
Everyone should guess what that means?
That a student should think twice before posting “Guess where I’m going?” lest the responses lead them to question their decision?

Although I applied to several Ivies i knew I didnt get in. Its why I wrote my essay about working on set in a horror movie. It probably didn’t go well with the admissions committee but its not like I was going to get in. I know classmates who actually hold patents or created startup companies or did university level physics research at Princeton University. No way I was gonna compete with them. So I sort of played up the Asian rebel angle and how I pretty much went against the stereotype. In the back of my mind I admit I wonder if it could have backfired. Probably was bold but risky move to talk about working on set of Terrifier 3 (a notoriously gory horror franchise) as the theme of my essay.
NYU was my dream school followed by University of Michigan and I was aiming for those schools. I admit I was a bit heartbroken not getting into either of my dream school. But it was extremely competitive yet maybe 10% of my high school class ended up going to NYU.
Rutgers was my cheapest option and offered me a scholarship. I seriously looked at Fordham university too.
I actually almost chose Syracuse and it was my top choice until UMD took me off their wait list! I was all but committed to Syrcause until UMD offered me a spot.

Which come in at budget. Depends on the environment you like - if urban GW. Big sports ? What in media studies do you want ? If $ don’t matter, I’d go SU. I’m an alum but I’m not you. You have all solid and substitutional acceptances although I’d ensure I was in the b school everywhere or eliminate them and eliminate Stony Brook.
I’m sure the answer is given later but that’s my initial thoughts.
