My college sends me a letter threatening to place a STOP on academic record?

"Dear, BLANK

A review of your records indicates that:

You must come in to discuss your academic progress

You must make an appointment to see your advisor, immediately. Failure to do so could result in a STOP being placed on your record and/ or de-registration."

I’ve always felt like my college doesn’t like me, and this letter gives me an omnimous vibe, like something foreboding will happen. I’m not the perfect student I have a 2.9 GPA after two semesters. I never failed a class, or done anything illegal, and am currently taking a summer course. Looking back at my classes I seem to be on the right track, what could they possibly want?

They probably want to make sure that you are on track for graduation (you know, is everything okay. I’m sure this isn’t about your GPA). Don’t be afraid, just go in and see your advisor. Emory, for example, will prevent you from enrolling in classes if you do not see an advisor (this of course only applies if you have declared your major), no matter your GPA. Just get it done.

Like Bernie said, they probably just want to discuss your major and graduation. Don’t worry about it, just make the appointment.

“I’ve always felt like my college doesn’t like me”
The whole college? All the students, teachers, and administrative people hate you?

Oh that’s rough. But don’t back down, be strong and go in there with an edge… an attitude… that tells them that you know what’s going on.

yeah, probably just wanna discuss your major and make sure you’re on track

Tell em advisors are not good enough for you.

Your school must have some policy regarding advisement that you have either overlooked or are in danger of breaking. Just go to the meeting, I don’t know how it would hurt you.

Hm, now that I think about it, it might be mandatory to see advisor. I felt she’s told me what path I should take before, that I didn’t think I’d need to see her. Well the letter made me and my mom worry a little, but I’ll go see advisor tomorrow.
