My cup is runneth-ing over!

My daughter, as some of you might remember, is in her third year at Brown. She had a great week and I wanted to share it with my “friends.”

First, she found out (she came off the funding waiting list) that she received a research grant that she will use this summer to work with a professor. It carries a $3000 stipend, and she called me first  to tell me about it. I have rarely heard her so excited and happy. It was a tough application to write and she was really proud.

Second, she heard today that she was accepted into her department’s honors program and the toughest professor in the department agreed to be her adviser. At first he said no, because he didn’t think he’d have the time, but after reading her proposal he loved and and agreed.

I just wanted to share this good news. Thanks for letting me!

This is great. Tell your daughter congratulations. I wish I could be this good.

Congratulations to your daughter! I know these are the sorts of things I’ll be worrying about in a year or so, so it’s very nice to hear a happy ending to such a story.

It’s always so nice to hear about undergrads having these wonderful opportunities. Congratulations to you and your daughter!

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

That’s really great, franglish. What department is your daughter in?

Is grad school the next step? If so, I imagine she’ll be having many elated moments to come as she hears back on those applications.
