My daughter got a 4 in AP Biology - She is in 9th grade

<p>She got a grade of ‘A’ in the class. The teacher reccomended her to take the AP class while entering the high school. She did very well in the class but little nervous when she took the exam. How would this be viewed when she applies to IVY schools or accelerated medical schools? Thanks</p>

<p>um, your daughter is in 9th grade… you shouldn’t be thinking about college, let alone med school. let her have a life, take challenging classes, find some ECs she’s passionate about, and come back here in 3 years.</p>

<p>It’s terrific and you should be proud of her. It will be a plus. (But I do agree that it’s a little too early to get stressed about colleges.)</p>

<p>She should’ve waited so she could’ve gotten a 5.</p>

<p>Don’t put too much pressure on her because she clearly does not perform at her best when people are putting pressure on her.</p>

why do people ask questions like this?
she’s in ninth grade for god’s sake. a 4 is ALWAYS a great score.</p>

<p>if you care that much, she can retake it another year or something, but seriously.</p>

<p>If anyone retakes the exam and end up scoring low, is it possible to keep the ols score? How does that work?</p>

<p>How many people use that one CC account, anyway? Some are signed “Jay,” others “Mike,” and now here’s the parent using the same one? One of the posts is from a junior in high school, and now here we have a post about a ninth grader? Is this a multiple personality ID?</p>

<p>Parent: it’s a 4. That’s passing well. If your kid wants to go to medical school, it doesn’t really matter WHAT she got on the exam, because she’s going to have to take biology in college anyway – med schools do NOT want to see placement out of college bio. They want credits to come from actually taking the college classes.</p>

<p>Straight answer: at some schools, only a 5 will give acceleration credit or advanced placement; at others a 4 (or possibly even a 3) will. As others have noted, she can always take it again, especially if she’s going to take more bio.</p>

<p>How bad is a 3 as a freshman? I made a 3 in APAH… and I absolutely hated the class. (I’ll probably be a math/physics major). Will this hurt me?</p>

<p>STOP worrying about your 3 in APAH. It’s Art History - not at all applicable to math or physics, and it’s a TOUGH AP test. The three will not hurt you. Just pwn Calc BC and Physics B next year.</p>
