My daughter got accepted to medical school yesterday!

Well, I’ve not posted here for awhile, but I’ve been posting here for years. I started when my daughter was selected to take the SAT in 7th grade due to the Duke University’s TIP program, down to being accepted to NC School of Science and Math, to what College she ultimately went to, to the woes and fears of her graduating college in two and a half years and what harm that would do her in applying for Medical school early. It must have done her some harm because despite graduating suma cum laude with a degree in biology and having a wonderful application and applying to 20 colleges, she only got 2 interviews, and was put on 2 wait lists. She was turned down on one of them and took all this hard, but got over it. Rolled up her sleeves, got a Kaplan course, buckled down, studied her butt off again, was ready to take the MCAT again next Wed to apply again for next year (she made a 30 last year). She got the call yesterday saying she was accepted to Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC!!! We are just so happy and proud of her. Part of this road has ended because this is what she has always, always wanted even when she was a little girl. All roads have led to this, or hoped to have. Now a new road begins. Thank you all for being there. Now I will be here for support because of many new things. :)

Congratulations!

That is wonderful!!! Congratulations!!!

Great news - her hard work paid off!

Congrats!!! :)

Congrats, it’s tough to get accepted to medical schools nowaday. My relatives also just got accepted to 2 medical schools after being waitlisted. Great GPA but not so great MCAT.

Congratulations and best of luck to her!

Wonderful! I’m proud of her and I don’t even know her! lol.

salem, congratulations! I think medical schools in general frown upon younger applicants. I know that our big state reserch U med school does. I know how it feels - I’m still doing a happy dance that the big kiddo will be starting med school this fall (got admitted to the same school two years in a row - do not ask ).

Congratulations!

That’s wonderful!

Wonderful news–but wish it could have come BEFORE she studied so hard for the MCAT retake, LOL!

Congrats to your D!

Congratulations to your daughter!

what a great feeling to see your child’s thrill at having accomplished something special!
congrats to both of you. truly a day to celebrate (and wipe a tear or two)

Salem, thank you, I love cheerful news!

I had minor surgery on Tuesday and I am uneventfully recovering. Just out the door soon to have my RN sister change my dressing.

I was awake for this and the surgeon and nurses were joking with me. Thanks to all you parents that sweat your kids though med school.

Congratulations!! I love happy stories like this one! Thanks for letting me share in a bit of the joy you must feel (vicariously sure, but it’s still lovely!)

Congrats! Happy news is ALWAYS welcomed!

Congratulations, salem and D! It’s just the beginning of another long academic journey of another sort, and it’s quite amazing to see as a parent. (My D is starting 3rd year of med school in August.)

Congratulations!! YEAH!!! :)
