Does anyone have information about what happened with the wait lists at either school in 2015? Anybody have info about 2016?
I was waitlisted at both schools as well. I don’t really know much about the situation at Northwestern; I applied to SESP (which accepts very few applicants) so I wasn’t expecting to get in. Hopkins was a bit surprising (not necessarily personally, just in general). I go to a school that is somewhat of a “feeder” for Hopkins, and don’t know of anyone who has gotten in regular decision from my school. We usually have quite a few. However, I’ve also heard that Hopkins enrolled an exceptionally large percentage of their student body ED this year, so that might be the reason for the waitlists/rejections. For reference, I’ve been accepted to UMich, UChicago, and UVA so far.
In 2015, Northwestern waitlisted 2614 applicants, of which 1452 accepted the waitlist, and 43 were accepted off the waitlist (3%). Johns Hopkins’ numbers for 2015 were 2752, 1747, and 187 (11%).
