my diagnosis of advanced cancer: how to help my kids

Tears today. Thank you for the update, she has touched many with her wit, wisdom and bravery. With two loved ones also battling cancer, it brings home just how small most issues are in everyday life. Strength and love to your family.

Sailingwest, thank you for thinking of us at such a difficult time for you. Your mom really touched us all. I felt so connected to her through her posts here, and hoped so much for her to beat this cancer. I will continue to think of her, and also of your dad, and you and your brother. You will always be in my prayers.

Sailingwest…to you and your family,

Sailingwest and the rest of your family,
As noted by the other posts, we all felt we knew your mom and felt a part of her journey. She showed such incredible passion for her life, her husband and you and your brother. The words she spoke/wrote were so beautiful with an amazing outlook on life and it’s turns. I’m glad she threw the party for your Dad and that all the wonderful memories will be locked in your hearts of the years together.
Peace and comfort to all of you

Sailingwest, thank you so very much for coming here and letting us know. Your mom has been an inspiration to all of us. You and your brother are incredibly blessed having her as your mom.

May her passing be peaceful.

So sorry to hear this news. I know your mom’s strength and spririt will carry on in her children.

Sailingwest - thank you for the update. Your mother is a truly remarkable person.

Sailingwest – Thank you for your thoughtfulness and for letting us know what is happening during this difficult time for your family. We are people you don’t know, but people who have come to know your mom through her beautiful posts, and who have come to care very much about her and her family. Peace to you all.

Sailingwest - thank you.

So many of us around the country are reading this today with sadness in our hearts. Your mom did an amazing thing to share with us the journey we will all take some day. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Wishing you peace sunrise, you truly know love.

Sailingwest, My heart sank when I checked this thread this morning, as I do every day. Because of your mother’s honest and moving posts, from deep in her heart and soul, I feel that I know her better than I do many people in my real life. Her love and pride in you and your brother were so apparent. I am so sorry for you and your brother, to be losing such an extraordinary mother at your young ages. I hope that the memories of your time with her, those incredible trips, will comfort you.

I am hoping that your father’s health problems will be resolved soon and he will be restored to health.

I love your screen name. It captures what you mother wants for you.

Keeping you all in our prayers. Hope an amazing lady will have peaceful, painless days ahead .

Sailingwest, thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how your mother is doing. She has had such an influence on so many. So sad that we won’t be able to experience her wonderful writing and spirit again. Our thoughts are with you.

sailingwest,

I am grateful for your taking the time and thought to post this update, as terribly sad that it is and at such a difficult moment for you.

Your mom was an amazing woman who inspired many right here in this thread with her courage, strength, bravery, grace, and drive to face her difficult health challenge. Her writings were incredible and will be a great memory to hold onto. As you can see, her great motivation to do everything possible to beat her disease was for you and your brother and dad. Her love and concern for her family was very prevalent in her writing.

I’m glad that you and your brother could be with your mom in her final days, which I am sure brought her great comfort. Given her decline, she will now be at peace and not have to suffer.

I know that your mom’s spirit will live on in you and your brother and she will always be shining down on you as you go on to do great things. She will be forever proud.

My thoughts are with your family.
~Susan

sailingwest - prayers to you, your brother, and father. Thank you for sharing your mom with us, her devoted virtual cheerleaders. What a blessing to have a mom like sunriseeast! I wish you all peace and trust that your mom will be with you in spirit forever.

I wish peace for Sunrise and her family. Sunrise has been an inspiration for anyone facing adversity in their life. She could have opted to simply wallow in self-pity, yet she came here and left many readers with a real-life example of how to face the most difficult situation with grace and dignity.

Sailingwest

Thank you for sharing with us. I will miss your mom, and her inspiring spirit and generosity. I have checked this thread sometimes three time a day hoping to hear news. I will never forget your mom.

Please let your dad know that we are here for him, as well as for you and your brother.

She was so proud of all of you.

Wishing you peace.

sailingwest, your mom’s grace, intelligence, spirit, humor, and rich life were all evident in her posts. But, above all, her pride in you and your brother and love for you were such powerful themes in her writings. She is a remarkable woman, clearly blessed with remarkable sons. Peace to you all. Thank you for posting.

Sailingwest - Your Mom is so courageous and as you can see from the beginning of the thread, was most concerned about you and your brother. Her writing is inspired and gave hope to others. Your family is in my prayers.

I found it incredibly poignant that Sunrise’s last post to all of us was about how proud she was of her children, of the successes in their journeys was all she ever really wanted. And considering it was her concern for them above herself that initially brought her here… well, I only wish I was reading her words about that full circle because they’d be much more eloquent than any of my own could ever be. She touched us all very deeply and I often found myself in awe at the fierceness in which she battled AND loved. I hope these final days, however long they may last, are peaceful ones.

Please feel our collective arms around your entire family from near and far.
