My EFC is 01610

How much aid will I receive?

I live in CA and I applied to UC Irvine, Davis, LA, SD, and Berkeley.

I don't know what your number means. Is it $1610? Aid is determined by individual schools. EFC is a guidline to help them determine need. There are a handfull of schools that provide 100% of need Richmond and Gettysburg come to mind. Look up your desired school on CollegeBoard. CollegeBoard will give you an indication of what percentage of need is met by specific schools. There is also a percentage indicating how much of that need that will be met will be in the form of "free money" (i.e., grants, scholarships). The rest is on you regardless of EFC.

Well, without knowing your state and what schools you might be attending, it's hard to know.

Most schools don't "meet need". Some states give state aid to students who go to college instate.

At a minimum, you'll get a partial Pell grant of $4,000 and a student loan of $5500. Anything else, we don't know.

Some schools will only give you that much.

I'm guessing that your family's income is below $80k....if so, then you qualify for Blue and Gold Promise.

That means that if you get accepted to a UC, your basic UC fees are covered thru a combo of Cal Grants, Pell Grants, and UC grants.

You'll also likely get a 5500 Stafford loan, some Perkins loan, about 2000 in work study....and depending on your stats for the school, you might also get some merit money.

good answers mom!

Thanks mom :)

We can't know how much aid you will receive based just on your EFC.
Schools use the EFC to determine your federal student aid eligibility and financial aid award. Your EFC is not the amount of money your family will have to pay for college nor is it the amount of federal student aid you will receive. It is a number used by your school to calculate the amount of federal student aid you are eligible to receive.
An EFC of 01610 means $1610.
