My EFC is 0962 on FAFSA what does this mean?

How much would I be eligible in person grant ?

If you put down on your FAFSA that there will be 2 of you in college, then your EFC takes in to consideration that both you and your brother are in college.

Since Robert Morris does not meet 100% demonstrated need, it does not mean that you will get more money

And that $12,500 would be applied for both semester right? It’s about $29,910 for off campus students per year

Are you asking me? The $7500 Direct Loan…and the $5000 Pell grant would be for the full year. Each semester, you would receive half of that amount.

And gain I ask…HOW DID YOU PAY THE $15,000 that was not covered by your financial, aid award for the 2016-2017 school year.

AND…what aid did you receive in addition to the Direct Loan and Pell for the 2016-2017 school year.

It would be VERY helpful to those of us trying to help you…if you could answer these questions.

What is “in person grant”?

My parents paid the other half with their savings
I revived the a subsidized loan too but wasn’t that much about $2,000

No. Pell is $6000 per year max. Your EFC is about $1000 so your Pell is about $5000 a year. You can also take out $7500 in student loan as a junior per year. I still don’t know if you are a PA resident.

If you are you can get about $4000 in PHEAA grant.

But tuition alone is almost $30,000.

You will need money for rent, food, utilities as well.

what is your overall GPA? not just your most recent gpa

In march you had a 3.01 gpa. then you said this term you had a 3.58, what is your cumulative GPA?

Your TOTAL Loan last year as a second year student would have been $6500 and that includes the subsidized and unsubsidized portions. You would have gotten a Pell Grant of less than $5000. That’s $11,500.

WHAT WAS THE REST OF YOUR AID AWARD FOR 016-2017? What was it? What was the remaining $3500 in aid for 2016-2017?

I am unable to get approved for a student loan and my parents can’t co sign. Is there any ideas to get more funding for school ?

I got an extra $4,000 bc my parents were denied for parent Plus loan

I do Workstudy on campus and have another job

Why did you pick this private school to transfer to if it costs $40,000 for tuition, room and board?

If you live in PA, why not attend a PASSHE school for elementary education?

The tuition is much lower, and maybe your parents could help with the rent, or you could commute from home if you live close enough.

it looks like you cannot afford to be at this school

Pell $5000
state grant $4000
loan $7500
add’ loan (because parents were not approved for Plus loan ) $4000

total, $20, 500

you are almost $10,000 short on just tuition

Even if you get a teach grant, you will be $6,000 short on tuition

how will you pay your fees?

Where will you live?

How will you eat?

How will you get books/school supplies?

Is there a branch of Penn state close to your home where you can commute to?

Ok…so…did your parent apply for the PLUS again this year…and get denied?

If so…your aid for 2017-2018 will likely be

$5000 in Pell Grant

$7500 Direct Loan

$4000 additional Direct Loan.

For…$16,500 total.

If your parents can’t pay the remaining costs for you to attend, the school is NOT affordable,

PASSHE schools were the former teacher colleges. They usually have fine education departments. They are sprinkled across the state and tuition is several thousand lower than a Penn State branch.

How much in loans do you have already? Where did you go to college your first year?

As an elementary teacher you are not going to earn a high salary. So you should try to keep the amount of loans down.

Your last semester will be spent student teaching so you won’t be able to do workstudy.

I renting an apartment with my boyfriend paying half rent which is $300 and I get my books cheap on amazon. Food I work at giant eagle and get 10% groceries which me and him would spilt

Did you receive a $4000 state grant last year? If not…I can’t see how you would get that this year.

@sybbie719 I didn’t see that this student got a state grant last year.

@mommdc should he have received this state grant?

I don’t know. I still don’t know if OP is a PA resident.

I am not a PA resident
