This is a loan under sixup where they lend you money based on your academic and financial need I could get for remaining cost
What is a PASSHE school?
What is your home state? Any affordable schools there?
Do you want to stay in PA and teach?
A PASSHE school is one of 14 PA school system of higher education universities. Like for example Millersville or Bloomsburg.
Are any of them close to Robert Morris ? And could I take classes online?
Ok…so you are not a PA resident…so you wouldn’t be eligible for,the PA state grant.
So back to my other question. Last year, your parents paid the costs not covered by financial aid. Can they do so this year? If not…this school is NOT affordable.
You already have 7500 in loans. Plus the possibility of $4000 additional if your parent is again declined for the Parent Plus. That would be $11500 in loans. And you want to take MORE loans?
Where are you an instate resident?
You will get the SAME Pell Grant and SAME loans regardless of where you attend college.
You need to find a less costly school.
I want to get my degree in PA bc the pay is better there than where I live and that is where I might live when I’m older
You can get a teaching degree in another state. Yes…you will have to make sure you have taken the course requirements needed for PA certification…and take the PA praxis tests…but really…you don’t have to get your teaching degree in PA…especially since you “might” want to live there.
What state are you from?
With a teaching degree after you teach for so many years the government pays off the rest of your student loans
I went to a college back home in we freshmen year and it was the same cost of RMU about $37,000 and I’m my financial aid package they gave me a loan and the rest of the aid covered it I only had to pay about $69 my first year.
With a teaching degree in SOME school districts…not all…your federal loans can be forgiven.
This is NOT something that applies to ALL schools.
AND…please listen…even if you do land in a priority district where loan forgiveness is possible…your PRIVATE loans will NOT be forgiven…Private loans are not included in loan forgiveness programs.
There are still forms of other loan forgiveness. I want a good teaching degree and I want to do well for myself. Teachers in PA usually make about $53,000 and I want to get my masters.
Are there any schools close to Robert Morris I could attend? Is it wise to go to community college for a few semesters then transfer back to RMU? I just want to end up with a good degree
You are NOT looking at the current issue.
This college is NOT affordable. You do NOT have a way to cover $15,000 of the costs.
You can be a good teacher getting your degree from ANY college that has teacher certification programs.
This one…is too costly for you right now.
Wit and see what your financial aid package actually is. If you only get $15,000 or less…and your parents can’t pay the balance this year as they did last year…then this school is NOT affordable.
Please explain to me how you can make this work financially? With NO additional loans.
I don’t understand how I am not qualified for more aid if my parents don’t make enough to pay tuition. I thoughts financial aid was suppose to cover most of the cost
Where did you hear that financial aid was supposed to cover most of the cost at ANY college? That simply is not true.
Your $7500 Direct Loan plus possible $4000 additional…plus $5000 Pell grant is $16,500 which very possibly COULD cover your tuition cost only at an instate public university in YOUR home state.
Is there a college near enough to your home so that you could commute? Would $16,500 cover the tuition costs?
Most students attend a college instate and might get state aid in addition to Pell if they have a low EFC.
Why did you leave the first college if you only paid $69 there? And transferred to a much more expensive school?
And are your parents now not able or willing to pay anymore towards your education?
I want to get my degree in PA because the pay is higher there and I want to live there one day. My parents have experienced a financial crisis and can’t help much
Once more…you do NOT have to go to college in PA to become a teacher in PA.
I am a public school educator in CT. I NEVER went to college in CT. I worked in NH before CT…and never went to college in NH.
I went to college in Ohio and Illinois where I NEVER worked. I got my bachelors in Ohio…at a low cost public university. I got my masters on full fellowship in Illinois.
You need to be able to pay your college costs. You need a plan that takes that into consideration NOW. Where you want to work is irrelevant because if you can’t pay your college bills in PA…you can NOT attend college there.
If it’s not a meets need college they won’t cover the rest of the costs. Why did you leave the first college if your costs were covered?
