My essay ideas and problems; readers?

So I recently wrote my common app essay about the volunteer researching that I did at the University of Chicago last summer. I tried to show my passion for research, what i learned from it, and how i want to pursue it in the future.

First, is it an topic that can work well? Its a very rough draft right now, but would anyone be willing to read it and just give feedback on some of the broad ideas or major changes that should be made.

Another essay that I’m writing right now is the University of Chicago, extended essay, the Powers of Ten one. I’m thinking about writing about myself. And the layers of my behavior and who I am. One way I thought I could approach this was to retell a situation and the manner in which I would react/respond to it. However, I would do the same story four times and how depending on who it occurred between I would respond differently. I would try to show who I am with strangers or people that I barely know, who I am at school, teachers, everyday people and situations, who I am with very close friends and family, and who I am personally.

Would something like that work?
Is this a valid reason for thinking that it might not work. That I should be who I am, no matter the situation or who it is that’s with me in the situation?
Finally, I’m having trouble thinking of a good situation that could reveal this information about me, if anyone has any ideas on what type of situation could work?

Thanks to anyone that helps me out.

any suggestions?

showing your passion for something is always a good idea. and the uchicago one sounds cool. uchicago pays lots of attention to essays so if you can pull it off, be sure to go for it. good luck!
