My essay touches some of the sensitive issues of Indian politics. Is it fine?

At the same time it discusses an incident which I found very touching. The essay reveals my personality and the reasons why I want to attend a US university.

Depends on the issues you’re talking about. Some may be alright and others you may want to steer clear from.

My son once wrote an essay about Indian Hindu nationalism and how that was affecting relationships with other countries and wasn’t good for India. This was in 2004. He got accepted to Swarthmore and was told his essay was outstanding. I think it is ok, as long as the opinions are based on reason and you have facts to support it. And the sentiments expressed are not over the top (like, the supporters of Hindu nationalism are all idiots and should be incarcerated, or something like that).

Depends. 10char

Dwight - depends? can you explain?

The topic doesn’t matter. It’s your treatment of the topic that matters. It’s impossible to know whether your essay is acceptable or tasteless just by knowing that it’s a “sensitive issue in Indian politics” and not reading the essay.

I understand what you mean. I’ll PM you my essay just after a proofread.
