My final teacher left the school after I requested a recommendation. Now my application is ruined since it is the 15th. Are the recommendation letter due by the 15th?
Send the AO a note letting them know that the teacher who was writing your rec left the school unexpected AND that someone else will be writing your rec and that they will send it shortly. Make sure the second part of that sentence is true when you send that note. Your application isn’t “ruined” unless you don’t fix the problem.
sorry what does AO mean?
if its admissions office, im applying to 10 schools
Breathe.
Exhale. Now breathe again.
Now repeat as necessary.
Then you contact the admissions office at all 10 schools.
Explain the situation and ask if you can submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher of a different subject.
Colleges do seem to be lenient as to letters of recommendations. As indicated previously, contact the admissions office to let them know, but also ask another teacher for the final letter of recommendation needed. Fortunately, although helpful and often required, most colleges would rather have less recommendations than more. Many require a couple and frown upon any more than three.
The OP is applying to boarding school. The recs are required.
Great advice. And you would be surprised at how forgiving and flexible admissions officers are about these situations.
