Well, this is my First ACT. On my PSAT, I made a 17, and I was very disappointed, I almost cried when I got the results in my class. I was told NOT to study for it, but I am noticing people are taking practice tests and things of the sort. I would like to improve my score.

When my parents pressure me to do something, the more I would not like to do it. Is there a free online, um, test prep would i call it?

Well, I leave this to you, what shall I do?

On the ACT test website, they have a bunch of practice questions you can go through to see how you’ll stack up. Also, how is it possible to get a 17 on the PSAT? If you mean 170, don’t be so sad. You scored above average.

Ya, if you meant a 170, that is, I would say good as in a B-B+ if it was graded or something. I did worse so… dont ask. That is why I swtiched to the ACT, I have onnly took parts of ACT practie tests, but I felt this sense of excitement because I got a 31 on the math and not sure on the others but definitly higher than my PSAT scores.

Ok, to study for the ACT, this is what I am doing. Get the Official ACT book which contains 3 practice tests inside it. Then, get PR or Barrons, or both. Dont worry, the PR ACT is helps much more than the PR SAT. Anyways, take a diagnostic test and see how you do. I would take the one fromt he Barrons. Whatever u gt Id say raise thescore by like 2-3 for each section cause Barron’s tests are that hard. So, if you do worse than you expected, don’t get worried. Now, based on what you scored, search your weak areas and study the Barrons book. The Barrons book give you every bit of information you need to know. The PR give you tips to better, such as elimination and stuff, but also contains information. Just not as much as Barrons. Well, after you study a whole section, take another practice test and your scores will improve, trust me.

^^ I agree (although I’m still hesitant to reccomend ANYTHING by the princeton review).

Remember, the ACT is a test of speed, so practice a lot once you’ve got the material down well. Barron’s usually overprepares you, and overpreparation is a Very Good Thing.

Your PSAT score isn’t THAT bad. Owen and I go to the same school and we’ve both seen the same thing: straight A students in advanced classes getting 150-160. The girl who scored the highest in our grade had a 198 (although my SAT score beat her PSAT score…but that’s comparing apples to oranges).
