my first attempt on writing an essay topic :every situation has a however"

"There are always two sides to a coin."This simple proverb brings to the limelight the presence of a “However” in any situation. We humans are like insects in a dark tunnel, searching for a glimmer of light and freedom. We are programmed to follow a certain plan of action without considering the possibility of an alternative. This narrow-mindedness of us often leads to apocalyptic and loathsome situations.

The quintessence of narrow-mindedness and selfishness is Adolf Hitler, whose persistence to continue his genocide led to his imminent demise.Hitler viewed the Jews as a threat and a menace to the society without realizing the positive and exemplary qualities of the Jews as moneymakers and as a boon to the economy of Germany. It was his failure to comprehend the possibility of an alternative which led to his evident fall.Historic examples like Hitlers also highlight the drastic effects on mankind due to the ignorance shown towards the word “However” by certain egregious people.

It is not necessary to take such archaic examples when such ignorance can be found in our daily routines. We thoughtlessly use the shower in hope of saving time when we can use a bucket and a mug. This might not be a big concern in the present but in the distant future when our planet would have exhausted of natural resources. In a situation where every drop counts, this pragmatic substitute could save millions of lives.

There is also another shade to the word “However”.It sends a message that every actions or a reaction has its pros and cons. The abolishment of slavery by the late president Abraham Lincoln is a staunch example of the so called “However situation”.

Life will be smoother if we humans understand the importance of the myriad of solutions available to a single question and choose the best answer. The ball is in our court now and it is time we understand that a half filled glass can be viewed as either half filled or half empty.

Organization: 4 No smooth transitions.
Thesis: 3 weak and semi-unclear
Grammar: 5 Strong
Diction: 5 Strong
Supporting Details: 3 You don’t have enough analysis and explanation of your examples.

Overall:4

(P.S To those of you who have seen me grade before: yes, I changed Sentence Variety to Supporting Details once I found a better SAT rubric.)
