My first time....hello to all!

<p>We are husband and wife (or wife and husband) and we are joining CC as a couple—hope that is cool…the wife half has been lurking here for 6 years (no exaggeration) as our two children ( now adults chronologically at least) transitioned through the college process…Wife has been observed to have been visiting here many many logons and subjected herself to good natured ridicule from “children” and husband…</p>

<p>Anyway, “husband” has now joined in, encouraged by a discussion about a locale where we are planning a sojourn…and husband wants to simply say HI!..but while on the subject of sojourns…how about some first hand recommendations of unusual places to cool our jets up the California coast all the way to Washington…we have a few weeks to “get to know one another” once again (following 33 years of already doing so) …we are especially interested in points north of the Bay Area,we are somewhat familiar with California SOUTH of SF and though we attended school in Bay area and explored that area a while back, keep in mind that it was the early 70’s and our heads were a little clouded…(heh heh)…</p>

<p>Any and all suggestions appreciated…we are open minded (or at least we regard ourselves as such)…so lay the ideas on us please!!!</p>

<p>Are you continuing up the coast through California or cutting over to I-5?</p>

<p>If cutting over to I-5, Oregon Caves Chateau (Oregon Caves National Historic Landmark) and Ashland, also Eugene and Portland</p>

<p>If going up the Oregon Coast, Newport Aquarium and Sea Lion Caves, Depot Bay, Cannon Beach.</p>

<p>Mt. St. Helens in Washington not far from Oregon was pretty awesome (not a word I normally use but applicable in this context) when I drove up it quite some time ago. The destruction from the volcano was amazing.</p>

<p>Mt. Shasta in California is a nice area.</p>

<p>Thanks for the suggestions above! We really appreciate them. Any others? We had read the Napa Sonoma thread and it got us excited with all the great suggestions. We are looking for some interesting, eclectic ideas along the coast. Thanks, again.</p>

<p>Welcome and how exciting!! Since Oregon is such a diverse state you have lots of options. I would say to travel to Central Oregon and look at the Cascades, Sunriver is gorgeous and so is Bend!! Sisters is a small town near the cascades. Also, the coast is beautiful as well. Somebody previously mentioned Cannon Beach. Seaside and Astoria are great locations too!!</p>
