'My Future, My Choice' $1,000 Scholarship: If You Could Pick Any College, Which Would You Pick and Why?

If I had the opportunity to go to any college, I would go to Paul Mitchell the school because it been my dream to go to school there and I would love to learn new things there.

If I could go to any college I would go to Cal State Long Beach. I have always had a passion for the healthcare field and they have an amazing nursing program. I’ve meet so many great nurses and nurse practitioners that had their studies from Long Beach and they’re amazing. I hope to continue my studies and grow in my professional career.

If I had the opportunity to go to any college, I would go to Paul Mitchell the school because they have an amazing inclusive and exciting learning environment. They also teach an array of skills as well as helping with post school placement. The instructors are passionate and hands on and it would be amazing to be able to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a well rounded and skilled cosmetologist.

If I could go to any college I would go to Rutgers University in New Brunswick. New Jersey is my home and Rutgers offers so much and it really isn’t as challenging for me to go there as it is for others who might want to attend because of cost and distance. As a Big 10 school, the hype must be out of this world and since it’s so big, I will definitely find my people. I also want to study abroad and I feel like a big school like Rutgers would be flexible with my choices.

If I could attend any college I wanted regardless of admission requirements or cost, I would choose the University of Southern California.

I recently was accepted to Tiffin University and am planning on working towards an MH in Film Studies next fall. I am incredibly grateful and absolutely ecstatic for such an amazing opportunity. That being said, I wish I had been more committed and focused while pursuing my undergraduate education. My low GPA has barred me from applying to a litany of schools, USC being one of them.

If my GPA didn’t matter, USC would be my first choice. Their MFA program for Writing for Screen and Television is absolutely amazing; it would certainly set me up for a star-speckled career. I also absolutely adore Southern Californian culture — the food, music and art scene, and fashion are unrivaled by any other region in America.

There is nothing wrong with Ohio, but I still can’t help but loftily dreaming of Southern California. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll transfer there!

If I could attend any college I could pick Paul Mitchell because my biggest desire is making people feel confident in themselves. I want to learn the best skills to be able to provide a wonderful service to clients making sure they leave feeling beautiful and positive that I can always help them achieve what they’re looking forward to. Paul Mitchel is a diverse and supportive school where I’m sure I would learn incredible things.

If I could pick any college, I would attend Stanford because, first of all, it is a prestigious university with a strong academic reputation. Second, it is really close to my house, just a 10-minute drive, which would allow me to stay connected with my family while pursuing my studies. And finally, Stanford offers a vibrant campus life and excellent opportunities for research, internships, and networking, which would help me grow both academically and personally.

If I could attend any school, I would choose Paul Mitchell. Their cosmetology program is well-known for hands-on training, supportive instructors, and a creative learning environment. I’ve always been interested in the beauty industry, and Paul Mitchell focuses on building real skills that help students succeed once they graduate. I also want to bring confidence to others. Whether it’s doing their hair or makeup, I want to bring joy to someone’s day and make them feel better in their own skin. I love that they encourage individuality and confidence, because it feels like a place where I could grow as an artist and start a career doing something I’m passionate about.

If I had the opportunity to attend any college, I would choose a school that combines strong academics with hands-on experience, especially in the field of criminal justice and forensic science. I’m drawn to Ferrum College that offers modern labs, internship opportunities with real agencies, and professors who have actually worked in the field. For me, Ferrum College is one college that doesn’t just teach from a textbook but helps students build character, practical skills and connect with professionals who can guide them into meaningful careers. I wouldn’t trade my idea for Ferrum College over any environment that challenges me, supports me, and prepares me to make a real impact in my community. Ferrum College would put me in the best position to grow personally and professionally while working toward a future where I can help bring justice and answers to people who need it most.

If I could pick any college to attend I would choose Cornel University. This is because Cornell has a unique approach to its public health teaching program that focuses on a One Health approach. Meaning they take an approach that explains human/population health isn’t just affected by human activities but also the soil we grow our food, the environment we live in and the animals around us. This unique approach to public health is the main reason I would pick Cornell University. By implementing what I learn from Cornell I would be able to bring back the knowledge learned to my home country, Kenya, which is primarily agriculturally based and assist in formulating policies that are holistically focused and are backed up by relevant research and data.

If I could choose any college, I’d go with Texas Tech University It seems like the perfect balance of strong academics, a tight-knit community, and a fun college atmosphere. Plus, Lubbock has this relaxed, welcoming vibe that feels like it would make college life feel more personal and down-to-earth. It just feels like a place where I could really grow and enjoy my time.

If I could choose any college to attend, I would choose Columbia University because of its business program. I think that being in the New York environment would be a big change, but a good one for me. I have always had an interest in exploring the world, but I never had many opportunities. I feel this would give me such a great opportunity, while also providing me with a great education that equips me with the skills for my future career.

If I had my choice to go to any college, I would choose to go to University of North Dakota. They are so welcoming that if feels like a second home. They have an amazing Aviation Dept. I would learn so much to become a commercial pilot. I also would love to join their Marching Band, Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble. It’s expensive being out of state but so worth it. I hope I will win this scholarship to help with expenses.

If I could go to any college, I would choose Savannah College of Art and Design. I am planning to study Graphic Design and they have an amazing graphic design program, given they specialize specifically in the arts. The campus and town are beautiful and the campus offers state of the art software and equipment. Lastly, they have a womens lacrosse team tht I would love to be a part of!

If I had the opportunity to attend any college, I would choose Auburn University to major in Interior Design. Auburn’s Interior Design program is known for being a successful program, hands-on studio experience, and emphasis on both creativity and technical skill. I’m especially drawn to how the program blends design with real-world application, preparing students to think about how spaces function as well as how they look.

Auburn also offers an inspiring campus environment, supportive faculty, and access to modern design labs and resources that would help me grow as a designer. I love that the program encourages collaboration and innovation, allowing students to build a strong portfolio and gain practical experience before graduation. Overall, Auburn feels like the perfect place to challenge myself, develop my design style, and prepare for a successful career in the field of interior design.

If I could choose any college, honestly, I’d stick with Manor College. I’m a junior here, working toward my bachelor’s in psychology, and I don’t want to change course. Manor just feels right for me. It’s a small place, so my professors actually know who I am, and that makes a difference. I’ve learned a ton about child development, behavior, and learning styles, but it’s more than that—I feel like I belong. That matters to me.

Once I finish my degree at Manor, I’m heading straight into Misericordia University’s online grad program for Speech-Language Pathology. Honestly, Misericordia just fits what I need. I can stick around in my own community, get my clinical hours done locally, and the program’s built for people like me who want to get into this field but can’t drop everything. My big dream is that I want to work with kids especially toddlers up to ten years old. I want to help them speak up, communicate better, and just feel good about themselves.

This isn’t just a job for me it’s very personal. I’ve always had a natural patience with kids who have a tough time finding their voice or who just communicate in their own way. I want to be there for them, to lift them up instead of putting them in boxes. Honestly, the idea of teaming up with families, teachers, and everyone else involved just excites me. Every child deserves to be noticed, understood, and truly supported.

Manor is where I first started figuring out who I want to be, and Misericordia is where I see those dreams actually coming to life. Together, they fit me my goals, my values, and the speech-language pathologist I’m working to become.

If I could pick any college, I would choose Curry College in Milton, MA. I’ve visited the campus several times, taken a full tour, and even attended a soccer game there, which helped me picture what my life as a student-athlete could look like. Their women’s soccer coach has watched me play and reached out personally, and her welcoming personality makes me feel like I would be supported both on and off the field. Curry is a place where I can see myself growing as a student, athlete, and person.

Wright State University!! I say Wright State because I honestly love the whole concept of being a raider; it to me is the most amazing thing ever. Especially going to achieve my dream as a dancer and being as comfortable as I am around these dancers, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

If I could pick any college to be accepted into and attend, it would be Cornish College of the Arts, which recently merged with Seattle University.

Cornish is one of the only schools in my state with an Illustration major, as an artist pursuing visual storytelling, it is very important to me that my major reflects the story driven aspect of the art I practice and seek to improve in. Staying in state was also a factor for choosing Cornish as a priority school, Washington state has a rich culture and environment that I can’t see myself leaving. I was born in the Seattle area, if I am accepted to Cornish, it will be an opportunity to reconnect with the Seattle area and scattered bits of family on the West side. Of course, staying in state means less travel costs and not having to pay the higher out of state costs for a different school.

Another reason I would choose Cornish is that with its merge with Seattle University, I would have access to Seattle U’s many resources, such as a green spaces and community events that I would not have available if going to a smaller art school. My mother is a alumna of Seattle U, so I would be eligible for their alumni relative scholarship, which would be an incredible opportunity if I was admitted.

If I could attend any college, I would stay at the University of Nevada, Reno, because I like the environment and the friends/roommates I have there. I also love how they experience beautiful four seasons and the professors are all very kind.
