So this pet peeve evolved very recently, but it really annoys me. I know it’s going to start happening more because orientations are going on, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP! I’m talking about asking questions like “Is this schedule too hard for me?” CC is not the appropriate place for this question. A deep philosophical talk with yourself is the right place to ask this question. Random strangers on the internet have no knowledge of who you are or what you can handle, or what you’re capable of, or what stresses you out, or what type of work you can do well etc. You are a (incoming) college student. You’ve had 12+ years of class to determine how much work you can handle and what type of work you can do. We’ve spent maybe 2 minutes in contact with you, and those are spent reading your question. There is no reason whatsoever that anyone on this board that does not personally know you should be able to answer personal level questions. If you do know someone from this board in real life, then great! Ask them in real life! Then you can have a nice dialog about your options and decide based on what is best for you, not generic UCLA student #112. This type of question includes others like “How much time to I need to study for class XXX?” or “How difficult is class YYY?” All that can be given are personal anecdotes from people that may have completely different learning styles than you, and thus whose comments are of no use to you. Instead ask “How does class YYY compare to the workload/material content/difficulty of class ZZZ?”

In summary, we don’t know you, and we don’t know your strengths. Therefore we cannot make suggestions that are best for you the individual.
