Literally what the title says. I asked questions for 5 minutes, so it was a total of 5 minutes that the interviewer asking me questions. Is that a bad sign? (online interview)
what school?
There is no way to know! Just like the best interview that runs over is no indication of admission chances, itâs likely that the flip is true too, that a short interview is no indication of admission chances. Some admissions officers are better than others. Some are outright not good. You may have run into one of those.
one of eight famous schools; I donât think I can say the exact school name though
Yes⊠and it depends on who it was with. For example, my DS had interviews at Exeter and Choate with the âlowest person on the totem poleâ and still got in. They could have been slammed with interviews today⊠maybe they squeezed you in between in-person interviews? No way of knowing. Donât read anything into it. Itâs done and you did your best. Good luck! Iâm sure you crushed it!
Donât read anything into it. Any of the 8 schools gets thousands of applicants. They have to move quickly during interviews. S24âs ran about that and he was accepted at the two 8 schools that he applied. You engaged with questions thatâs huge. Itâs when the interviewer has to pull questions and answers out that could spell trouble. But at this point, as I say to my son, it is what it is. Good luck.
That would be quite curt of the interviewer if it was in person. If online, however, I really wouldnât read too much into it.
Thatâs about how long my sonâs were and he was in person.
Not prep schoolâŠbut a true story. I was part of an interviewing team at my work (a school). An applicant came in, and was stellar. We knew within minutes that she was going to be our hire. Her interview lastedâŠmaybe 15 minutes max. I remember saying âthis woman is going to cry when she gets to her car because her interview was so shortâ. Of course I knew she was being offered the job.
Donât read too much into the amount of time. Itâs quality not quantity.
Perhaps @skieurope or @cinnamon1212 can comment how heavily these interviews are weighed.
Our son was interviewed by an alum at a Starbucks here in AZ. He never set foot on the Choate campus until revisit days, never met an AO, and was admitted. The schools just want to get a sense of how easy you are in conversation and how ready (independent) you seem for the boarding experience. As @thumper1 posts, the interviewer may have gotten what they needed in a few minutes. And remember, the interview is just one piece of the application. Donât stress about this.
