My math is really bad,and i hate it.What can i do?

My first SAT math score is 670,and i didn’t even prepare for the math section. And now i feel i should prepare for it,i just get freaked out.I have to admit that i hate math. But i still need to study for it.I cannot even cope with the OG questions, what can i do???

Can anyone recommend me an SAT math practice website?

Just practice using the Blue Book. I also had that score orignially and now I score between 750-800

Vickiemonomania, your SAT math score is not bad at all, because from there you can get a perfect score. You know everything taught at school, but just something you have to know that is special for the SAT. You need to find the quickier way, which is very different than the way your teacher taught in class to do many SAT problems.

There is a site teaching you exactly that using 3-D videos. They show you all kinds way to solve a problem, and then show you that you can solve any SAT math problem in 30 seconds or less. The site is at

[Faster-Than-Light Math! — 30-second SAT Math problem-solving](http://www.FTLmath.com)

Be sure to sign in to watch the videos that give quick ways to solve the same problems in the videos without a login.

You mean the OG?

Thank you so much.I do need a quicker way to solve the problems.I mean i could answer some slightly hard questions, but the thinking would always take me too much time. And i always ran out of time doing the math section.
Math,it’s driving me mad…

Vickiemonomania,

You are right. The FTL math has this example.

Y = 11 + 189t^2 and x = 7 + 13t. What is y in terms of x?

Eveyone taking the SAT can do it, but there are many problems like this, if you cannot find the quick way (the site says in 30 seconds or less) to do it, you are not going to get a high score. The 3-D video shows the steps that one can solve it in 30 seconds or less.

Did you see how they did it?

That really isn’t a bad math score, especially if you haven’t done any preparation with it. You should be scoring higher after you’ve gone through the Blue Book and carefully reviewed each math question.

just accept your strength and weaknesses

MY GOSH. People on CC are RIDICULOUS . A math score of 670 is not “really bad” nowhere near. I understand a lot of people on this site are REALLY hard on themselves and sre trying to get into ivy leagues … so I guess I can understand where you’re coming from, but I find it hard to sympathize. Ha, you should see my math score.

MaydayParade, I TOTALLY agree! It’s funny because math is my strongest point and i only have the highest score of 660 after taking it 3 times… If you think you can do better on the subject tests (I got a 790 in Math II) then colleges may overlook your math score, I’m pretty sure… anyone else agree?

Lol I can’t do any better though. I am generally just bad at math. Like I had a math metal block for the longest time, and I finally overcame it, but like I didn’t sustain the knowledge and stuff over time like I should have been . I just “got it” for the next test. Ya know ? So i’m looking at the problems like “ohh, this is not that hard… I just have no clue how to approach this problem.” Sucks.

MaydayParade ,actually i’ve been in the same situation as you have.Math has been a monster in my life ever since i started learning it,so many chances were ruined by my mediocre math scores! And i just can’t help hating it…

@RomySR- hahaha our situations are almost identical. My first two SATs I got 660s on math; although, I got a 760 on the Math II subject test. I’m awaiting the results of my third attempt at the math reasoning; hopefully it went up.
However, I disagree with your last point. I don’t think that colleges will excuse a sub-par SAT math score (sub-par being relative) because of a high subject test score as the two types of math are VERY different. Seems to me like a good score on a trig/calc based test would be more impressive, but sadly I don’t believe this is the case.

I got a 710 on Math my first time and I took the Math II Subject test and did terrible, 650… I think i got 750+ this time on Math though on the October SAT

Wow, don’t get so down on yourself! 670 is, comparatively, is a great score.
If you don’t agree, just keep on hating it.
