My ND Visit

We were driving up from Bloomington when I saw the Golden Dome. It was so powerful, a sing of greatness. I went from being exhausted from the long drive to not being able to stay in my seat, crazy with anticipation. It was about sunset when we arrived, and we turned down Notre Dame Avenue. My jaw dropped, I was looking toward one of the most beautiful sites my 17 year old eyes have every seen. I’ve been to the campus multiple times, but this time it was different, the Dome glimmered like I have never seen it. I dream to imagine what it must feel like to wake up every morning at Notre Dame and walk past the dome, or the basilica, or Sorin. Does it every get old?

We checked in to the Morris Inn, and decided to have dinner in the Sorin restaurant. It was very good, but also very expensive, lol. As we were eating dinner, I saw hordes of kids walking out to the basketball courts. I was a bit suspicious so I decided to check it out. It was the bookstore basketball tournament, and I wanted to jump in and play. It was awesome! We went back into the Morris Inn and decided to go to sleep after the long day of driving. However, I couldn’t sleep.. so at midnight I decided to walk around campus by myself. I felt completely safe, and after a few hours I returned back and went to sleep anticipating the day ahead of me.

We woke up and headed to the admission reception office to wait for the tour. The only down side to visit was the attitude of the admissions office receptionist. I don’t know if she had a long night, but she definitely wasn’t in a good mood. hehe

We then had our Information session, where a senior assistant basically explained the ins and outs of the admission process. She was really thorough and my dad was very impressed –and that’s very hard to do… let me tell you. We then started our tour with a female English major, who knew pretty much everything about ND. This was a nice change from our past tour guides, who knew just about as much as the welcoming brochure. We navigated throughout the campus, for about an hour and my smile was from cheek to cheek. Everything was more beautiful than any picture I’ve seen; however what’s up with all the construction? What are they doing?

Anyway, we finished the tour at the Grotto and I said a small prayer. We then checked out the baseball field and the Loftus Center; both were AMAZING! My dad decided that we needed to leave so that we could get to Ann Arbor. Horrible decision that was…. Ann Arbor = ew.

Anyway, driving down Notre Dame Avenue, I promised myself that I would graduate from Notre Dame. It may take a couple years to get in, but I told myself that I would not quit until I succeeded. I’m going to be a Domer, and that’s that. I can’t wait to go back, it exceeded my expectations and I didn’t even know that was possible.

Nowhere Else But Notre Dame!

Super Good Luck to You!!!

I am a firm believer that if you want it badly enough you can get it. Good luck to you.

BTW, to answer your question on AIM, I live in Fisher, not Dillon.

Thats what I thought

great report chillin will worry for you until you get that acceptance letter :)

Yeah I have to agree. There is just something magical and special about setting foot into Notre Dame. Nowhere else I think can you find such a balance of academics, faith, athletics, and its greattest asset of all, the ND "family". And I hope we both get the acceptance letter next year :).

Amen to that, KSAzn!

Chillin, no it does not get old. It's more amazing every day. Especially when you live in Sorin. It's just as cool if you live in Walsh, because then you get to walk by Sorin every day. Yeah, those Walsh ladies really have something special here.

Ya, that must be awesome to live in Sorin. Do you get to pick what hall you want to live in, or is all random? Because if I had the choice Id pick Sorin for sure

No you don't get to choose. Back in the day, when the dorm system was different, Sorin was a seniors-only dorm, and the competition to get in was quite fierce. It's all in the luck of the draw now. However, I don't blame you for wanting to live in the best dorm on campus. 120 years of ND history right here. I'm actually writing this from the Captain's Corner, "Notre Dame's most legendary student room," according to the plaque outside my door. This used to be Frank Leahy's old room, along with, at various times, Jim Lynch, Tom Clements, and Rocky Bleier. How many other dorms do you know have a walking tour?

Yeah, very cute, PCB... Seeing the dome and the basilica definitely doesn't get old. As for Sorin, well... Living in Walsh is pretty awesome though, despite our next door neighbors. Walsh was built as a luxury dorm back in the day with real closets and private bathrooms in some of the rooms, both of which it still has. It also used to have a bowling alley in the basement, which, sadly, is no more. However, we still have the best basement on campus with a ton of 24 hr space.

P.S. If you did get to choose your dorm, you would be best off going with Dillon, which is not only the best guys' dorm on campus, but Walsh's brother dorm as well! Sorin definitely dropped the ball on that one. I hear they want us back though...poor guys.

We want LeMans, baby

Oh and btw no one wants to live in the Dilhole. Shellzie's just spiting the fact that she can't live in Sorin.

So original...

I should rephrase my earlier statement, it doesn't get old walking past Sorin. What gets old is walking in...

oooo this kitten's got claws

Alumni Hall. I win.

ahahah you guys are hilarious

I like the one across the lake...Carroll? Is that it? A bit inconvenient, yes, but it would be interesting

Yeah, its a long walk to everything from Carroll. But I hear they have huge rooms and great parties. Unlike Sorin...

In a recent poll, the ratio of the number of women who preferred otters to the number of women who preferred vermin was infinity. It seems that vermin aren't all that cute. On the contrary, they spread disease.

I am not saying that that is not true, but if you start talking about polls and suck, posterX will be on here to post a poll or ranking in which Notre Dame woman prefer Yale men to Notre Dame men.
