With a stopwatch, you could drop it off a building to see how tall it is. :)

I’ve got Cox for my cable TV and I can watch TV on my iPad!

I use my iPad for almost everything. Hardly use the computer anymore. I use Print n Share to print any document from my hard wired printer ( doesn’t need to be wireless). I have the NBC and ABC app so I can watch any TV program I may have missed if I’m interested. Photoshop Express to edit my pictures. Love my Pandora for music. Keynote is for doing presentations. Google Earth is wonderful for viewing any part of the world close up. Then there is Trulia if you are house hunting anywhere in the US or retirement location searching, It’s fun to see what the market looks like in parts of the country and it uses satellite, so you get great close ups. Then of course there are my games, Words with friends, Cut the Rope and Facebook. I could go on a d on.

I’d like to hear more about Print and Share…

Thank you, ccers!

Wow, milkandsugar, I need to research that stuff. Thanks for the tips!

" I could go on a d on." - LOL, this was definitely typed on an iPad.
I do this all the time!

I use Pinterest and Picasa apps to show my architect/contractors/designer my inspiration pictures. It’s pretty handy to have them all in one place. Also, when I’m talking to them I can refer to pictures of the house I’m remodeling (I’m not living there) to refresh our memories on the details.

I’d love to find a better Pinterest app. I’m using the free one and would prefer a slideshow-like app similar to Picasa rather than viewing one picture, touching the “back” button to go back to the board, then selecting another picture to view. Anyone have any suggestions?

vballmom - take a look at Evernote. We’re in the midst of a huge, out of state design project and that’s where I keep my inspiration photos. It’s very easy to use and I like that I can access my Evernote account from any computer and also my phone.

My H. took it on vacation instead of lap top. It is lighter when every 1lb counts. I do not know any additional benefits and will never own one. We skyped with pretty much everybody from abroad and it was convinient. Hopefully he will get reimbursed as he had to pay hotel for connection as he skyped for work also.

I didn’t know there were hotels that still charge for wi-fi.

The higher end hotels charge, which is interesting. Aimed at business expense accounts, clearly. It can range from about $10 a day up to $15 or more. It’s really annoying. Usually wifi in the lobby areas is free, but not in the rooms.

GRITS80 I’ve also got Evernote installed too but am not finding it as useful as Pinterest/Picasa, mainly because I’m not storing text as much as I am photos.

The NBC app sure gets crummy reviews on ITunes. Is it REALLY that glitchy?

Yay! Downloaded and USED Skype on my iPad. It worked terrific and I saved a bundle of money on what would have been an international call. :)

We find that Skype on our IPad has much better quality than on our computer (voice only…we have a first generation IPad).

I just downloaded the ABC app…very cool. Now if CBS only had one so I could watch episodes of the Good Wife!!

Thumper, I did a video chat, and Skype video quality was very compatible with what I got on my computer. Sound quality was wa-a-ay better. I was pleased.

Learned more iPhone/iPad tricks from MacBlend, the website suggested by a fellow CCer - many thanks!

Off to download more free stuff, Kindle and Nook. :)

Still looking for an app that can do basic Word editing, so if anyone has a favorite… :)

Try the free version of Onlive Desktop. It gives you word documents and seems to work pretty well.

OK, I see my iPad edited a word in my post to its own liking. I meant Comparable, not Compatible. Gee, thanks!
“My iPad altered my homework” might be the next lame excuse du jour.

Going to get the Onlive. Thanks!

You can go into settings to make it so your iPad doesn’t do that, BB. I found it very annoying!

Forgot about that. Thanks! Done!
It is more annoying than helpful, but H thinks it is the best thing since sliced bread. Ugh.

Whatever you do, DON’T get the Scrabble app!! It’s so addicting. You can start game after game after game… I have more than 100 going right now. Some people don’t make a move for a day. I probably make moves in 8 to 10 games at a time. If you pay the $1 or $2 instead of getting the free version, you can keep track of your stats.
