My numbers vs UF

Do they make the cut?

3.72 gpa
4.12 hpa

1950 SAT
740 reading
560 math
650 writing

6 ap classes
took 3 junior year (5,5,4)
taking 3 more senior year

130 community service hours

Applied for summer B

Your stats put you in range although your SAT Math is a little on the low side of the range. Last years mean SAT was about 1960 (mid range of accepted students) and the GPA
mean was 4.30. The rigor of your classes is OK. It will possibly come down to the strength of your essay and EC’s. Remember, the estimated number of applications for this year is about 33,000 covering Fall, Summer B and Spring 2013. With the class size target figure of 6,300 (based on an over enrollment last year of 100 above the 6,400 cap) they are probably going to offer admission to about 11,000. Last years acceptances totalled about 11,460. If those figures hold then the acceptance rate will be at about 33%. Good luck.

On a side note, I know that UF superscores, but will they care that on my second SAT, which I improved 70 points on my writing, I scored 350 on the reading because I guessed randomly so I could save energy for the writing section?

If there is a big spread between two CR scores that may raise some issues. Normally superscoring is automatic but if one of the Adcom’s looks at both of your CR scores they might inquire why the large variation in the scores. Normally, on multiple attempts on the SAT scoring is usually within 100 or so points.

How is guessing randomly on Reading going to save energy for the writing section?

I would argue that the reading section is the most mentally taxing. Especially those differing opinion passages…
