My other kid now has a job, too :)

I suppose this post is a little braggy, but I really don’t feel that way. What I feel is relieved.

This has been a very stressful year for my family, with not one, but two kids entering the job market for the first time (one is finishing a bachelor’s degree, the other is finishing a master’s degree).

My younger one found a job quite early; it starts in July. But the older one had a lot more trouble finding a position.

The older one finally got lucky. He got an offer yesterday for a job that starts at the end of June, and he accepted it.

Whew! It’s been a long wait.

Next on the agenda: two apartment hunts, one on each side of the country. And two young people moving alone to new communities. And two periods of adjustment to new jobs and new lives.

I feel like I have double vision.

Best of luck to both of your kiddos!

Congratulations, Marian and family! Aren’t you glad they’re not starting the jobs the same week?

Congratulations, Marian! One of the greatest joys as a parent is to watch God’s plans for their lives unfold! Enjoy this precious time.

Congrats! Sounds like a hectic but fulfilling summer for you all! Wish I had a private jet to lend you!

Great news. Congrats!

Congratulations! Your family gives hope to the rest of us.

Marian, so glad to hear that this stress in your life has been lifted! Hope your S loves his job and thrives. If he’s still in SoCal, there are far worse places to go visit! :)

Really wonderful news. My oldest still has a year of college so no real stress here yet, but I have to remind myself that we survived new jobs/new cities/apartment hunts/. . . and our kids will too. (And I really don’t remember my parents being very involved?)

Congrats to you and your sons. And no, I didn’t see anything braggy about your post.

Great news! What fields have jobs?

Great news. Congrats.

Yay!! I’m so happy for all of you.

Congratulations! Enjoy every moment that you get with your sons.

Check out the recent thread on helping a kid find an apartment a long way away. Some good ideas there. I certainly enjoyed helping DS 2 years ago.

You expressed your feelings so nicely - not braggy at all. Relief and joy. I remember that feeling in the same situation.

Based on our family’s experience, software engineering and litigation consulting.

Admittedly, these are not fields that are to everyone’s taste. I don’t even really know what either of them consists of. But my kids do.

Congrats. I hope I can be making a similiar post next year this time. S1 is on his own and doing great. S2, who graduates next year gives us some concern. Nice to hear success stories.

Marian,

Congratulations. Your post gives me hope that I too can one day experience this feeling. Not sure what I wish for more: having them get a real-life job, or moving into their own apartment. I suppose I wish them to get a “real” job, but whew moving out makes it so much more real that they’re growing up.

Someday, someday, someday

Congrats Marian! You have much to be proud of…and I can only imagine the sense of relief too! Our oldest is both graduating next week AND interviewing for a job we hope comes through. Thanks for sharing…gives us all hope. Job well done!

DS graduating university in 6 days - already has a job in Civ Eng. and is working part-time for the company now. Slated to go fulltime in a few weeks. YEAHH!!! Good luck to all parents out there - wishing you and your kids good fortune in their job search! :)
