Hi, I am a senior in high school. 3.8UW/4.2W GPA, 32 ACT, decent ECs and volunteer work. I am not amazing but I’m pretty decent.
My parents are making me go to ETSU. Not really because of finances, but because of control over me, although the cheapness is an obvious benefit to going there. The problem? I don’t want to go there. I know I won’t get into any top 20, or maybe even 50, schools but I would like to go to a decent one. Like UTK. But they won’t allow me.
I don’t want to go to ETSU but I am not yet 18 and I don’t have any money. It is the only school I got to apply to. It’s my only option. They already offered me one scholarship and I think I will get into the Honors program there.
My questions are:
- What do you think of ETSU? Is it as bad as I think? I have heard that they are difficult to deal with (I have already experienced some of that although they have been helpful overall).
- Will I have problems getting hired for a job because I attended? I have always wanted to be a microbiologist but I am also interested in becoming an RN (eventually CRNA). How bad will it look that I went to ETSU? CRNA programs as well as other grad programs are competitive. I am also afraid I will be underqualified and less educated than I could be.
- What are the best colleges near TN/VA/NC/SC if it becomes a problem and I decided to transfer after 2 years? I’m not sure if I will be able to, but I’d like to know what’s out there.
Thanks!
