my predicted stats, chances?

<p>The predictions that doctors make aren’t always right. My doctor said my sister would be 5’ flat, but she towers over all the other girls at 5’11. I would bet any amount of money you will not come close to 7’.</p>

<p>i’ll talk to my 2 aau coaches, see if they will help me, they only travel in california, like sometimes we play at las vegas</p>

<p>Last year, a kid at my school (6’10") was recruited by Michigan. He’s there now as a freshman.</p>

<p>HS Career average: 4.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 blocks</p>

<p>The guy was incredibly clumsy. He was only an honorable mention for the all-conference/all-county/all-region teams. When I heard he was at Michigan, I was shocked.</p>

<p>If you end up at 7’ and are as good as you claim, wouldn’t you want to go to a better basketball school than Stanford?</p>

<p>Hey I remember people from Lynbrook. They won a lot of awards at FBLA Nationals :)</p>

<p>Like everyone said, don’t get too obsessed with colleges right now. But it is good that you’re thinking ahead and planning! Sometimes I wish I could go back and tell my little self to do this better or join this etc. So since you’ve already plotted a path, try to follow it, but don’t get too upset if things don’t go according to plan. And try to enjoy yourself while you’re living through high school.</p>

<p>hahaha las vegas is in nevada, not cali.</p>

<p>8thgradeboy…
being ambitious is a very good thing. It drives you by giving you motivation.
However, being realistic is a complete something else.
To be successful in life, you need a combination of both.
You have big dreams right now… and I can tell you that I was like you. I thought I was amazing… I was one of the smartest kids in middle school… I wanted to be the best of the best… get into the most amazing colleges…I thought high school was going to be a breeze and it’d be no problem maintaining my stats. Why? because I was amazing in middle school.
But you know what happened?
I got to high school.
Everything changed because high school is not easy.
When we are younger, we tend to believe that we are all super heroes who can do anything. No. There are plenty of people who are going to be better than us. It’s a fact. I remember the salutatorian of 04 told me (when I was a freshmen) that she didn’t do all her hw cause you can’t… there’s just too much. And I thought to myself… well, I’m never going to not do my hw.
Ha, looking back on that moment, I realize how completely naive I was, the way I see you right now (don’t take this the wrong way).
Life is full of failures, and believe it or not, a key to success is knowing how to deal with your failures.
If you keep thinking “I’m going to succeed in everything I do,” one failure’s going to come along, knock you off you’re feet, and you’ll be so bewildered that you won’t be able to get back up.
I know because I’ve had that moment.
And I’m telling you all of this from experience.
You’re probably here, looking at everybody’s stats and thinking… well, I can beat that. And maybe you can… who’s to say?
But the thing is, at what… 13? You shouldn’t be worrying about this, you shouldn’t be up in the clouds dreaming. We’re all trying to wake you up to reality.
And reality is harsh…
you’re not going to be so amazing in high school once you see how ridiculously hard it is.
It’s my junior year… I’m getting Bs <em>gasp</em> and I’ve realized that Stanford isn’t going to be a sure-in. In fact, I’ll be mildly suprised… or perhaps more, if I do get in next year.</p>

<p>But stay grounded. Set goals that are right in front of you, that you can achieve one at a time, instead of envisioning what would happen in your perfect world and reaching for that. Because chances are, you’ll never get to that perfect world.</p>

<p>Hey kid,
I predicted Harvard with 4.0UW, 1600, 800, 800.
Sorry, it didn’t work out that way.</p>

<p>may I ask how tall you are right now?</p>

<p>I have a friend who had a predicted height of 6’7" when he was in 8th grade. Turned out he stopped growing during 9th grade at 6’1" .</p>

<p>thanks for the advices</p>

<p>i’m 6’3’‘, i havn’t hit puberty yet, but something is quite akward; my parents are 5’7’’ and 5’2’'</p>

<p>good luck then. My friend also had short parents(5’9" and 5’4"), but your case might be different.</p>

<p>you haven’t hit puberty??</p>

<p>and is it really possible for just one person (say, as a freshman) to lead his entire (not very good) team to a state championship? on his first year playing on varsity against other teams whose players are all good and have been playing varsity for two or three years? </p>

<p>like everyone is saying- dreams and ambition are good. but being arrogant and unrealistic will most likely hurt you in the long run.</p>

<p>stanford basketball really stinks now. If you are remotely close to 7’, with somewhat good stats, you’ll get in. The tallest guy on Stanford is that bum Matt Haryasz, and he’s a big stiff.</p>

<p>unfortunately, pimp’s right.
they started off ranked 13th in the preseason poll, looked like they were gonna go places. they ended up going a very mediocre 4-4, losing to teams like UCI, Montana, and UC davis. let’s just hope they get their act together for pac-10 play, otherwise they’ll be at home come march</p>

<p>just hope when i get a growth spurt, i grow seven more inches and get a stanford college scout to come and see me play</p>

<p>matt harayaz is on the nba draft for 2006
i think chris henrnehasz (sp?) is too</p>

<p>i really dont mean to repeat everyone else here…but you should really read what your writing 8th grader.
when i hit high school i thought id have 1500 sats and all that good stuff…i dont think high school is hard…but i had fun…and my grades took a hit…one thing i learned is you can never plan your future…especially things like test scores…and HEIGHT? you have to be kidding…
id like to see you in four years</p>

<p>well i guess i am just a little anxious right now</p>

<p>just a little…</p>

<p>matt haryasz is actually one of the best big men in the Pac-10, far from a stiff.</p>

<p>Stanford sucks because their coach sucks. No way they should be losing with guys like Grunfeld, Hernandez and Haryasz in the lineup.</p>

<p>By the way, theres about a 90% chance that this post is a joke.</p>

<p>what do you mean this is all a joke, i’m serious, just because i’m 13 huh?</p>

<p>When i first read this post, i thought it was a joke too.</p>
