My Profile: Can I go 2080 to 2300 by Oct.?

<p>Hey guys,</p>

<p>Hopefully this doesn’t get into an overly verbose(!) post, but basically I would like some advice to the course of action I should take after completing my test prep course this friday. A quick background: I live in a 51% asian town, and in an 85% asian school, with a 90%+ asian test prep, so the curves on math are HORRENDOUS haha! The prep helped a lot though, through memorizing 2000 words and normal class, I went from an 1800 to a 2080 max in about seven-eight weeks.</p>

<p>So without further ado, here are my supersetted and most recent test scores:</p>

<p>RECENT: 2070
-Math: 740 (-2, 1 omit)
-Crit: 650 (-11, 1 omit)
-Writing: 670 (-3, 7 essay)</p>

<p>SUPERSET: ~2110
-Math: 740 (-2, omit 1)
-Crit: 650 (-11, omit 1)
-Writing: 720 (-4, 10 essay)</p>

<p>Math is semi-strong, I usually miss 1-3 problems, sometimes careless mistakes are the culprit (recent test, both mistakes were so dumb), other times just level 5 questions tripping me up. </p>

<p>Writing is good, just need to stop those 2-4 errors I make every test, and pull my essay into the 11-12 range. </p>

<p>Critical Reading is the killer. For 60% of the questions that I miss, I have eliminated 3 choices, and choose the wrong one…SC’s aren’t TOO big a problem, usually 2-4 wrong.</p>

<p>I have access to the following:
-8 unused collegeboard tests
-7 online collegeboard tests
-6 old collegeboard official tests
-couple of sat workbooks</p>

<p>What do you all suggest I do? Is it possible to hit 2250+, or 2300 by October? A 200 point improvement in roughly two months? What should I do to basically wrap up the math/writing sections and ensure 800’s in them? How do I improve my critical reading to a 700+? </p>

<p>I got a 1990 on the May SAT (690CR, 610M, 690W) and my goal is to get 2250+ in October.</p>

<p>Here’s what I have done and/or plan to do:</p>

<p>Dr. Chung’s SAT Math: Go through every test and check missed questions</p>

<p>Direct Hits: Write down all of the words I don’t know on flashcards and go through them.</p>

<p>Blue Book: Finish these tests slowly (as of now I only have three left)</p>

<p>Gruber’s: Go through practice tests and answers</p>

<p>*Read classics (and stuff for fun), I just got a subscription to The New Yorker and I have been reading Newsweek for over a year.</p>

<p>I have already done most of the stuff on this list. But really, if you want to improve Critical Reading, the best thing to do is read more… also found the Silverturtle Guide helpful.</p>

<p>thanks for the reply! yeah I don’t think that getting a magazine to read would be optimal right now, kinda late for that…I’m starting to accept that critical reading will just come with practice. </p>

<p>Anyone know a good place for level 5 math questions? or say harder writing questions?</p>

<p>Dr. Chung’s is great for level 5 math and I’m just using Gruber’s SAT guide… which I am not crazy about, but I already have it so I might as well use it. Regarding writing questions, I really don’t know. I say read Silverturtle’s Guide and really get the rules down, then practice.</p>

<p>Hmm… so I will definitely look into Dr.Chungs to wrap up my math endeavors. Silverturtle’s guide…gotta rerun through that as well to review all the writing rules I have been practicing. I have started an essay example bank. Short term goal is:</p>

<p>800 Math
800 Writing
X Critical Reading</p>

<p>Shouldn’t be too hard, and basically guarantees a 2200+…Just gotta patch up those careless mistakes and fine tune other stuff</p>

<p>just got a 2240 on an official test! NEARLY THERE!
…and I really used no books at all :stuck_out_tongue:
My main harm is in critical reading, and by just doing 2 tests a week, I increased CRAZY</p>
