My SAT advice

1) Obtain a copy of “The Official SAT Study Guide,” which may be available at a local library, or attend an SAT prep course. Identify problem areas and spend more time working on them than you would any other area.
2) Make sure you know your Latin and Greek roots. There is no Latin or Greek on the test, but knowing these roots can help you figure out what a word means. I recommend picking up a copy of “Vocabulary from Classical Roots” and its accompanying teachers’ edition.
3) Pace yourself. If you’re stuck on a problem, circle it and go back to it later if you have enough time. If you don’t answer the question, don’t worry about being penalized. You won’t lose any points for leaving a question unanswered.
4) FOLLOW THE RULES! This is very important, because if you do not follow them, you could lose all the points you earned.
