i got a damn 1340/2400 on the kaplan practice test and even lower on my next psat

does this mean i screwed up my entire life? i feel i would get a slight better or lower score on the actual test… BUT still bad compared to most people.

can i just go to a community college and transfer to a university? i hear tuition is cheaper since the first two years of college is regular classes.

all i want to be in life is to become an air force pilot or a commercial pilot.

Uh, don’t give up just because you got a 1340
There are plenty of colleges out there that will accept you with that score. They might not be the BEST colleges out there, but nevertheless you do stand a chance
Also, admissions are changing now and the SAT doesn’t have much of a weight as do your extra curriculars and personal statement. So either start getting involved, or come up with a killer ps is all I can say!

What exactly are your weaknesses on your practice tests? If you give us some specific examples, coupled with some more practices/reading on your part, a 1340 may not be your ultimate score. The first practice SAT I took I scored like a 1200 on. Come October, I went up to a 176 on the PSAT (should’ve studied in the preceding few weeks).

First of all, a 1340/2400 on a kaplan practice test means nothing. The kaplan tests are different from the real SAT tests.

Do a test using the official SAT study guide and see how you fair. That would be a better guage of your current SAT standard.

And even if you still don’t do too well on the official SAT study guide, don’t worry. The SAT is a test that can be studied for. You will improve with proper SAT prep.

Their tests aren’t that close to the real SAT. The Official SAT Guide (Bluebook or BB) is a book published by the actual people responsible for the administration and publishing of the real SAT. So their practice tests are pretty close to the real thing. Second to that would be Princeton Review and Barron’s (Barron’s is a really, really hard version of the real thing).

it may be different from the actual test but it should reflect similarly to the real thing. am i right? i feel my score will be lower on the actual test. h

is it possible to raise my scores 400 points by october 2011?

vltord, using any practice test made companies other than the college board will NOT reflect the same thing as the real SAT test.

It doesn’t matter if it’s spark notes, kaplan or barrons. All of them do NOT reflect the inherent standards present in the real SAT.

You have to understand that the SAT is a standardized test. No other practice test truly reflect the standards that you would encounter on a real SAT test. Only the practice tests made by the actual test makers will truly reflect the standards that you have to learn to beat. And the latest source of practice tests made by the actual test makers is the official SAT study guide (blue book).
