My schools-can I get in?

“Williams is not HYP (though my child picked Williams over Harvard) hard”

Yes, it is.

Williams does take a huge number of athletes and legacies ans still seems to love top prep school grads (10 are going this year from my friend’s class of just over 100) so it’s true the number of slots left is small for the unhooked.

I could of course be wrong but after a couple of conversations the feeling seems to be that Williams does not ever take 10 students from the same school. In would be uncommon for more than 2 or 3 and that would apply to maybe a handfull of schools in the nation.

I wouldn’t say Penn is a match (even non-Wharton). It’s definitely a reach - I’ve know many people with better stats get rejected from Penn (the College).

yeah… there are no high schools that are sending 10 kids to williams this year. The max from any high school is 6.

You will probably be able to get into JMU although this year their average acceptance GPA was about a 3.8, so JMU is not necessarily a very easy school…many kids who had that as their safety this year, were denied.

UVA is tricky…I applied to UVA this year with a 3.93 GPA, instate, 1200 SAT (math & reading only) and was denied admission. Had a friend who was waitlisted with a 4.1 GPA, instate, well above average SAT score, was SCA Treasurer and had a ton of other activities going on.
