My short answer in common app...

Hello, this is my first post here. I’m glad to find such a place that can share our experience during application.

The following is my short answer in common app. Would you give me some advise about it? Thx a lot!

Every activity I’ve done in high school is meaningful to me. But the attempt to be a director is the most unforgettable. In the 10th grade, the school held an English Drama Contest. As a Class Monitor, I took the director job of our class. We’ve chosen a most challenging play—The Butterfly Lovers—a traditional Chinese love story. I spent 3 nights translating the Chinese lines into English with 2 of my classmates. After a heated discussion around the class, the heroine selection problem still cannot be settled. I talked two candidates of the heroine, analysis the role together; finally we reached an agreement on the role. We just got started when there was only 2 weeks left. The separation between acting and dubbing drove me to the dilemma until I discovered a way to have the actors act with their words silently in deep emotion. On the way of a street of clothes shops to find the costume, the idea of combining a dancing came up to me. I was so happy that two of the girls in our class agree to have a butterfly dance at the end of the play as the love story ending. Finally the date of our debut came. Luckily, I was chosen to be the hostess of the contest. When I announced our play’s name under the spot light, my heart was brought up to the throat. Everything went on well as expected and thunderous applause arose around the stadium. Everyone in the class devoted himself to the play, from costume to music controlling, everyone did his best. Besides our enjoyment, we won the First Prize of the contest. To my surprise, owed to our special ending dance and background music, the Best Art Effect Prize came to us.
