My Situation. What are my chances at anything?? (PLEASE HELP)

Please listen to my situation and tell me what you think.

I am very smart but I did poorly throughout my whole three years in high school because I was suffering from a sleeping disorder. I would never be able to stay awake in class and I was never able to pay attention. I am a junior attending my city’s only public high school.

For my first marking period report card for my junior year my grades were:

Algerbra 2- 79
English 11- 78
Chemisty CP/Lab- 60
U.S. 2- 78
Spanish 3- 89
P.E. 11 (Dance)- 100
Advanced Tech (Computers)- 87

with 7 absents and 1 late

Two weeks ago I was put on a medication for it and now I can finnally do well in school. Its an outstanding difference and im doing amazingly well now! But it’s already the second marking period of my junior year, and I did badly throughout my entire highschool career so far. I am going to be doing better from now on though because im not sleeping anymore (getting A’s and B’s).

Is it too late to do well and/or get into a good college?

Importantly, I am a dancer and dancing basically is my life. First off, not to sound conceited but, if anyone is qualified to make a living off of dancing in the future, its me. I am known as one of the best (if not the best) club dancers in the tri-state area. I dance at clubs in front of hudreds of people constantly. It has made me what I guess you can call a club celebrity and pretty much myspace famous. I do not only do club dancing, I do all types of dancing and I really enjoy it. I am going to strongly consider making a living off of it in the future. I am scared though because becoming a dancer isn’t a reliable career option, you have to make it big and such, what if I don’t?

I am also a very good speaker, I preform well infront of people, and I am extrodinary with computers (Computers is also a career option for me)

I am also a hispanic male and raised alone by my single mother, maybe that might help with scholorships or entry into colleges.

Im not sure what I will get on the SATs, I would most likely do very well, but not recieve a perfect or utterly mindblowing score.

Extra Curricullar Activities/Sports I have participated in are Football (Freshman year) and the Latin Flavor Dance Team (Currently in).

How do good do you think I will do in the future? What do you think I should do for my future? What are some colleges I should apply to, some that are out of the question, and some that I will get into for sure?

Please help me, Im lost and dont know what to do anymore.
Thank you.

pick up the grades, it’s not over. Do as best as you can on the SATs and finish as strong as you can this year. Maybe even discuss your sleeping disorder in your college essay and make some good impressions on teachers for recommendations next year. This is your most important year.

Definitely put it in your essay. Good luck!

You sound like John Travolta is one of those movies…could be quite an interesting essay! You’ll need scores to really be able to put together a list and assess chances. Takesome practice tests for an idea.
