My true life: background, college, essays, activities, gpa, sat/act. Help me?

Good evening everyone. This is going to be a long one… so please be prepared to take 10-20 minutes out of your life to read my story.

I am going to be a senior this year at my infamous high school. A little about myself: I am asian, but I’m not like one of those smart asian chicks who sits in the ARC and studies her buttox off. I am one of different kind of chicks; I am a funny, independent chick who blogs a record of things I do, the people I meet, and the places I go. I love to travel Europe mostly, learn anything I can, make new friends, and live life the way it was intended to be lived. Sometimes I come off as a rebel, note my own feminism group called the ***** Yewz, along with my brown highlighted hair and the black flannel or the jeans and a t-shirt look. That’s not really rebel actually. Lastly, I have the tendency to write weird things like that.

Here are some more activities I enjoy: Living, breathing, sleeping, waking up, drinking tea, running cross country, wondering, wandering, playing the piano, eating well, watching movies, partying here and there, listening to music, being positive, and appreciating the finer things in life.

The last memory of my junior year was when I was talking to the high schools college counselor lady and she rudely told me I didn’t have the grades and gpa to get into any UC’s, so I told her to s-t-f-u before I pwn her with my solar house I built, once again independently worked on that! I gradually realized that I wasn’t going to listen to this 70 year old slap jack hoho! Whatever woman, don’t degrade me. My gpa was at a 3.0 and my SAT scores have been 1310 and 1410. I know those aren’t the coolest things on the planet, but I have consistently working hard for them and the ACT. I am planning to take the SAT October test and the ACT September.

I am a big film person. I really would like to be a screenwriter. I like to write about things in life that people don’t do or say. I started writing all the funny things I have been saying that make people laugh and as I look back upon thy book that lays above my shelf, I realized that maybe screenwriting is da bomb for me. If I could only team up with Seth Rogen, that would be so rad! English Literature is also a maybe, but I don’t want to be a teacher, oh no way jose! I also thought about marine biology and oceanography because I love exploring the ocean blue. The colleges I am planning to apply to include UCSB, UCSC, UCSD, Pitzer College, Pomona College, Occidental, Tisch School of Arts, Univ of SD, Univ of SF, and Univ of Redlands. If you have any other colleges that support those majors, please feel free to speak!

I know my grades are the shizzle, but I feel that if I work hard my senior year, some of that will pay off. I don’t know. All I can say is that I really fudged up my freshmen and junior year. I probably won’t even be accepted to those colleges above. I read about all the holy grail admissions for all the colleges, but I am trying to stay positive and doin’ mah thang.

In other news, I haven’t started my personal essays not because I am a huge slacker, but I am having problems which one I should write about. I would like to reach out to you and the rest of the Scooby gang for personal essay time. I have a few ideas; please check them out and tell me what you think/whatever comes up to your mind first.

In my freshmen year, I hit rock bottom and was failing most of classes. In the midst of cramming, I managed to crawl out of my cell-like world and became a more positive person. (I don’t think that is a personal essay worthy, but that’s another story.)

Max, the innocent yet estranged puppy, from nowhere land. I fostered him from November to December of 2008. The time I spent with him was probably the most memorable part of my life. When I had a prep period, I would sprint home just to be with him. He was almost like a boyfriend to me. Funny thing is, when he was adopted, I went through a “staring at Photobooth picture/video/stuffed animals he chewed up/everything that reminded me of the memories I spent with him” withdraw. My grades slipped like mad cow! And that’s not the end of it. On New Years Eve, I was still hung over the pup and it was the most emotional event that has happened in my life. Still, I sometimes whimper at night… that was sarcasm. (I wrote an essay about him for a creative writing during my junior year. It can easily be made in a short essay.)

When I was little, I was always scared of water, being in the water, drowning in the water, and whatever else roamed in the ocean. My momma signed me up for swimming lessons and years later, I joined a club swim team. I had solid times for the 100 breaststroke. Basically, I confronted my fear of water and ended up accomplishing my problems with it.

So, that’s all I have and I hope your time wasn’t wasted because time isn’t wasted when your wasted… Thank you for reading my true life: I’m almost college-bound and I appreciate some comments about everything related to this and/or feedback that comes to your smart brains.

Lol. I don’t know. I guess your interesting personality makes up for your academics o-o Go for it~ Wouldn’t hurt to try :D

P.S. “those smart asian chicks who sits in the ARC and studies her buttox off” can be “funny, independent” chicks too :D

Maybe at yours, but not at mine. Hah

Your GPA and SAT’s are def low for the UC schools and you will have to raise them. I bet you already know this. So hopefully you will raise them.

As far as the essays go I think the third one sounds the best. I would avoid writing about cramming. And though though the 2nd one may be the most personal I wouldn’t write about it unless some how his death changed you in a good way or made you better. Better to avoid essays that end in a sad mood.

and I agree with what amylilygrl said. My best friend is a “smart asian chicks who sits in the ARC and studies her buttox off” and she is funny and independent. I don’t see why someone can’t be funny, and independent and study their buttox off.

I’m not sure you’re getting the point that I am different from them. I bet your friends are funny, independent, and study their buttox, but you see, I don’t study my buttox off so that’s the indifference part. I’m sure she is the Judd Apatow of the asians at your school, but I’m the Eddie Murphy of my school. We cool?

Yes of course lol. I wasn’t really offended and I didn’t mean to offend you but also have you ever thought about taking any SAT subject tests?

I toats thought you were offending me. S’okay! I have, but I mean October is the last time I can take the SATs. I have thought about taking the SAT Subject tests in November, but I wasn’t sure if those were needed for UC’s and/or other colleges I wrote above? I’m taking the ACT soon so I hope all goes well. Know anything about that as well as the subject tests? Damn it, I really wish I did better in high school. ****** my life.

I know the UC schools require 2 subject tests. Also have you been prepping for the SAT. Do you have the SAT guide by the college board?

Yes I have so many books on the SAT… from Princeton Review to Kaplan…

Even though your GPA is low your SAT score could really help. I suggest you use the college board SAT guide to study for the SAT , if you haven’t already. Take a look at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/955109-silverturtles-guide-sat-admissions-success.html</a>. There are some good tips.

You can possibly raise your SAT score to 1800+ with practice for the October SAT. Then you can take your subject tests during November and again in December. But now you should focus on the SAT. It can really help you if you do well. Just focus on that and forget the ACT it will divide your focus. You can easily own the SAT .Sorry if i sound like I’m ranting but focus like I said focus on the SAT. And look at the link I posted.

Okay, but remember that Regular decision for some schools that I want to apply to is on January 11th, 2011 and the January SAT is on the 21st. I don’t think thats do-able? HELPPPP
