My Turn to Seek Recommendations for my D's College List

@SwimDad99 Thank you for that insight into NESCAC programs, that is helpful.

The difficulty of mixing athletics and engineering should be given serious consideration in this search. Another vote for a look at Valparaiso. ABET accredited engineering, welcoming to female engineers, academic money for your DD’s stats, known for good balance for the student-athlete, about the right size, etc. Not sure about athletic money. They just announced a move to the Missouri Valley Athletic Conference. My DS knows engineering students that are athletes and they are getting it all done.

So, I’m trying to catch up. After several days if no posts on this thread I thought it was dead and returned to 30 notifications. I thank you all so so much! Really good stuff here. I’m agreeing with finding a school with good aid where her swimming is a hook.

Regarding the NMF offers, the best of those, Alabama, is a fast D1 school for swimming.

Another question I posted separately but maybe you all have feedback.

So, my daughter is a rising Jr and took a first ACT this spring if her sophomore year and I figured I’d shoot those free scores off to some schools because what could it hurt. Well, she did very well, got a 33, and just received a nice letter with a school T from UChicago thanking her for sending them her scores and other flattery. Is this pretty standard or does it mean they are interested?

U Chicago is kind of notorious for sending out lots of email/mail to high test scorers. I wouldn’t read anything into it.

But that’s a great score, especially for a sophomore!

Ok. When I sent her the pic of it after it came (she’s away on a travel swim meet) her reaction was “cool! Where is my shirt from Rice, haha”

Guess she shouldn’t hold her breath on that one.
