My uncle received a PhD. Should I put this in my application

My uncle received a PhD from Ross Business School and also teaches biology in the university. Should I put this in my application? My parents immigrated to America without an education so I’m a first generation student. Will this boost my chances? Also, I live 20 minutes away from the UMich campus. One more thing… My high school is ranked 930ish out of 1000 of Newsweek’s best high school in the nation. My GPA is a 3.5 though, lower than the average UMich GPA, which is 3.79 (69% accepted have this GPA). Will this look bad?

Sorry for the cluttered questions. Thanks!

Because he’s your uncle probably not, but it couldn’t hurt.

Your uncle probably won’t help, but as kyle said, it probably wont hurt to mention it.

With regards to your GPA, yes it will look pretty bad since the average is 3.83 unweighted. I hope you took a bunch of difficult classes or have an upward trend because you could be in some trouble here.

Being a first generation student will look good and will help your chances. How much? I don’t know.

I would leave out the uncle. You’re a reach to begin with and I don’t think the uncle will help but will take away from the hook of being a first generation student.
