My worst case scenario for calc III. Please help

So I have 48/50 on the first exam, 30/50 on the second exam, and 53/50 on the exam. My teacher decided to add the fourth exam on the final exam day. So basically I have two exam to take on final exam day(final is 25% of the grade). The teacher changed the policy in the class said he’ll drop the lowest score two days before final. So I had my hope up for an A in the class. Calc III was the last subject to take for my finals. I had phys final on tuesday. Then comsc at night. Then another comsc final on wednesday night. After not being able to sleep for two days, I just fell asleep on wednesday night and woke up again right after calc final. I went to the class but the test was over and everyone’s gone. I emailed him and told him what happened right after I got home but there was no respond until now. I just checked my grade and got a C for this course, which is drag my gpa down a lot. My friend told me that I can negotiate with the teacher asking for a D or F. In this case, which is better? D/F?

Assuming this a California Community College…
If you can get a D in the class, it WILL stay on your transcript, but if you retake the class and get better than a D, then that grade will replace the D GPA -wise, but the D and whatever you get when you retake the class will both appear on your transcript.

Hmmm…thats a tough one.

Well whats your gpa before and after the C? What’s your major? What school do you want to go to? If you have a competitive g.p.a post C just roll with it. You know the material take the C and move on. That’s probably what I would do, but then again, I’m not an A student.

If you can take the D, retake it in the spring, and you can still finish IGETC and the majority of your classes for transfer, then do that to preserve your high g.p.a. Technically you would be able to overload up on classes, since you have all the material up to the final for calc III.

To answer your question, D is obviously better since it is higher than a F.

If I understand what you are saying correctly there were four exams worth 75% of your grade and a final exam worth 25%. The fourth exam was to be given at the same time as the final. So you slept through exam number four and the final and you received a 0 for both. The 0 for exam #4 was dropped. You scored 131 out of a possible 150 points for the three exams that counted which is 87.33% but since you received a 0 for final, worth 25% of your grade, your average for the class would have been .75 x 87.33 % or 65.5% so your teacher may have thought he was doing you a favor by giving you a C instead of a D for the course.

In college, oversleeping is never a valid excuse for missing an exam. Buy an alarm clock.

quick sidenote: how bad is to get a C in a non-major class. My major is legal studies for berkeley and I have 4.0 (A’s) in all my major classes. My Gpa will be around 3.5ish, so whats my chances of getting accepted?
