<p>This is a bit of a dilemma because while my oldest son is off at college my daughter is going through lets just say an “awkward” phase. At UMGD, I had the chance to catch this movie that helped me greatly understand a little bit better what she was going through while laughing my heart out. It is called The Motel. They are doing a youtube competition also where someone can submit how puberty sucked. Have a great one!</p>
<p>haha allflowerz, I have a friend who is going through menopause, oldest son a freshman in college, and a daughter in the midst of puberty. She should submit a video…or maybe her husband should submit one instead. I’m sure he has tales to tell. :D</p>
<p>I think I win. Son #1 off to college, #2 to be a HS junior w/raging hormones, D#1 swithing from Catholic 1st grade to public, D#2 starting Kindergarten, H starting own company and me in the midst of Meno. Bring on the OREOS</p>

<p>I remember being 13 when my mother was going through menopause. I don’t know how my father stood it. “Open the window!!” was a familiar refrain in those days. She wanted cool, fresh air for hot flashes and I wanted to jump out!</p>
<p>I too have a 13 year old, but he is thriving being the only child. Nevertheless, I put The Motel in my netflix queue.</p>

<p>Hey Kathiep, my search for “The Motel” on Netflix did not bring any movies that fit the description. The only “The Motel” movie was about a Chinese family (??) that runs a motel. What do you say?</p>
<p>We adopted two little girls from China when LFWB was a Freshman in HS. I remember when someone asked me if if was wierd having a kid going to college. I said no, what’s wierd is having a kid going into college and a kid going into Kindergarten.</p>
<p>If you ask them what they want to be when they grow up, they say “a Midshipman”.</p>

<p>I had a kid entering HS and a kid entering kindergarten the same year. Two orientations on the same day, but let’s just say you don’t see the same faces at both! (I also have one in the exact middle.) </p>
<p>Now the oldest is a jr. in HS and I look great compared to some of the other HS mothers (at one college they thought I was a HS senior! the happiest day of my life!) but the youngest is in 2nd grade and the man at the bagel store thought I was her GRANDMOTHER, not her mother (the unhappiest day of HIS life!).</p>
<p>Gave birth to 8th child after firstborn left for college. Mistaken for grandma of my 6th and 7th (ages 2 & 4). Others are 8, 11, 13, 16.</p>
