What would the ability to invest in a MYRa add to the existing ability to invest in a Roth IRA?

Its so new that no one for sure what will be the ultimate version be.

I haven’t read all the details. I think for the most part, those already doing Roths wouldn’t see any advantage. For lower income folks that can’t meet minimum opening amounts that investment companies and banks have, they can start one with $25. Also, the government will administer them so small companies don’t have increased costs to hire administrators and handle paperwork. There are so many people now that don’t participate in any retirement programs I think the goal is to just get additional people over the hurdle of getting started in the first place and then they might become more involved and switch to Roths or whatever after awhile.

Payroll deduction, I guess. Maybe the idea is that some folks wouldn’t save if they got the money in their paychecks first. I know enough about government regulations (being in financial aid!) to know that any government program will bring ridiculous regulations for employers to deal with … something the small employers this is aimed at (those without 401k programs) don’t need.
