Myth?: Dec. and Jan. SATs

Is it true that Dec. and Jan. SATs are easier because these are the dates that seventh graders are taking it for the Duke TIP program?

no, the tests are pre-curved so the testers on that day have no effect on the scale

^ how are they pre-curved? that means it doesnt matter if it was harder / easier etc?

I know this is off-topic, but I have to say that it actually made me kind of sad to see little kids this morning, standing in the hallways during the extremely short breaks we got between hours of grueling testing. I could have sworn that some didn’t look any older than 10.

^that must be depressing. If they were asians, it’s very likely that their parents bullied them to take the SAT.

Luckily, no lil’ kids under Junior year (yeah, not even sophomores, since I live abroad). I was the youngest test taker (w00t!)

Yeah, there were LOTS of 7th graders at my testing center. There were more of them than high schoolers. They were so tiny!

Same! I was having *** attacks when I realized that suchandsuchheight kid was actually there taking the SAT. I would have sworn they were in grade school!

^remember that time (looonng time ago, in a distant galaxy…) when we thought high-schoolers were giants? :p.

All the little kids come in, clutching their calculators and water bottle, usually accompanied by a mom who looks more than a little freaked out. Looking anxiously around, trying to figure out where the heck they’re supposed to be, fidgeting nervously, while I doze off in the corner, more crabby at the fact that I had to be up at 7 on a Saturday morning than nervous.

my school used to partition the cafeteria for the 7th and 8th graders taking the SATs. but honestly, i think the middle schoolers on average did better than incoming seniors anyways.
