Baby Foot and the microwave egg thingy, and Amazon Prime through student’s email address and E-cloth cleaners.
Forgot all about the Columbia fleece jackets! I bought 3 or 4 and now am excited to wear them when it gets cold enough. Those were a great deal.
The Sprayaway Stainless cleaner is the best and it’s cheap at Walmart. The exploding/singing/crazy birthday candles from Amazon were amazing for my oldest’s 18th birthday. We have a hilarious video because it set off the fire alarm. They sent four so I have enough for a few more birthdays.
Instant Pot (have used it once!)
Garmin 235
Spibelt
Kinetic Kurt road machine
Vivofit 2
Giro bike helmet
Ucann protein powder
CEP Knee braces
Miolink heart rate monitor
Cannondale Synapse Bike
And more. Folks on the exercise, diet thread have cost me $$$$.
NSSI Dorm insurance. 1 for 2 on claims, so at least it paid for itself last year. They refused to pay for the stolen bike because we did not have a receipt even though the policy stated that receipts were only required for electronics. It was an inexpensive Walmart bike, and I persisted but they wouldn’t budge even after I jumped through a bunch of hoops. But, then I submitted another claim for a dropped iPhone (with receipt) and they paid.
Haha - exactly what I was thinking @ohiopublic - that thread is EXPENSIVE!!!
I never got on the babyfoot train, but I was always curious about it…
Yep, @alwaysamom , half the books I read are from CC recommendations.
The summer before D went to college, I posted a thread in College Life asking current students their advice on what to bring/not bring.
I heard about Stitchfix here.
Most of the best stuff I’ve gotten here has been ideas on how to deal with problems, especially in the sub-genre of elderly parents.
One of the best tips I got was the link to the day-of wedding coordinator duties–that convinced S and DIL to hire one and I was SO glad we had her on the wedding day.
Another tip was creating a “resume” of ECs for my high schoolers at the end of each year. At the beginning of senior year, there was no trying to remember everything as it was already written. LOR teachers were very impressed!
Best chocolate chip cookie recipe: truly the best I’ve ever had in my life and I still make them at least once a month.
You need to share this chocolate chip cookie recipe, @dentmom4!
A couple of recent ones:
Instant pot (win) and egg cups (haven’t used)
Lily moon gentle soul shoes (bought a second pair in a different color)
Don’t know for sure what stainless steel cleaner deb922 recommended but I use Weiman and really like it. Nice to know so many of you like Color Catchers!
There are several products/accommodations/restaurants that I’ve tried based on your recommendations but they all escape me at present except for the most recent one, a restaurant-- Redd in Yountville (CA).

and I am sure many more things…but I have also saved $$ thanks to CC and the many great ideas bandied about by many of you!
I’ve used Just for Men mustache and beard color on my white eyebrow hairs for several years, successfully fending off the Mrs. Santa Claus look. Can’t recall who recommended it, but I’m forever grateful!
L’oreal tubing mascara…love it. Castor Oil for eyelashes. Jury still out…might be a little fuller, but they definitely seem more pliable.
Friday Night Lights and Doc Martin!
Doing the alphabet with my feet in the mornings due to PF.
the college industrial complex
Castor oil for my eyebrows. Loads of new growth but it has come in white. So now thanks to MommaJ
I will try the Just for Men…
Bagalini bags, Brics tote and Longchamp bag - (definite theme at work here.). Brics tote shoulder strap gives out if you have too much weight in the bag. Bagalinis are inexpensive and versatile. Longchamp is the plainest of the three but probably most used - you can run it through the washer if desperate and return to the manufacturer for repair (strap pulled off - unrelated to washing machine). I always read the appliance threads and home improvement. Have to order color catchers for D.
This is the best source for practical information from strangers I respect.
