Naming current school in essays?

Obviously admissions committees will know what schools we’re all coming from, so nothing to hide, but I was wondering what was considered conventional as talking about your current school in essays (both CA and supplements), since I know they really don’t want to see a focus on trashing current school.

As in, is it better to write:
I’ve felt that (ex) Colby College has not provided me with the resources I need…
or
I’ve felt that my current institution has not provided me…

I’ve been trying to stay with current institution, but it’s getting a bit repetitive.

I used my college’s name in my essay. Don’t think it makes much of a difference as long as you’re not saying “Colby College sucks…”
