Napa area travel question

My 23-year-old D has an interview near Vallejo. She will be coming from Denver and can fly into Sacramento or San Francisco. The available flights are about the same time and price. (no good flights to Oakland.) Would Sacramento be better than S.F.?

She will have to take a shuttle from the airport to her hotel and back. Any thoughts on that?

Your D will have a bit of an adventure whichever way she goes. It’s quite a distance from either San Francisco or Sacramento to Vallejo, and neither is conducive to transportation via shuttle. I presume a rental car is out of the question? Here are some shuttle options:

[Vallejo Airport Transportation](http://local.sanfrancisco.com/Vallejo--2C+CA/Airport+Transportation.zq.html)

If she’s coming from Denver, Oakland is closest, most convenient airport…

[Ground Transportation - Sacramento International Airport](http://www.sacairports.org/int/parking/ground_transporation.html)
above is the link to ground transportation from Sacramento airport. You could go to SuperShuttle and look at what they charge from Sac airport to Vallejo.
My son uses Sacramento airport several times a year to travel home from school. It is a small airport that is extremely user friendly. He has used Super Shuttle on the occasion he has not been able to get a ride to the airport. They have been reliable. My biggest grip with Supershuttle is the price. Often the shuttle is as expensive as the flight.

I have also used SFO often. It is a much bigger airport. So it might be more confusing. If it was my D and she was renting a car I might go with Sacramento for ease of getting in and out without getting lost.
We also have used Oakland. Also an easier airport then San Fran.
I would look into the SuperShuttle price and compare ground transportation cost versus maybe a higher fare into Oakland.

Thanks for your help. I didn’t want her to have to rent a car in addition to getting to and from the interview (stress of driving in a strange area). She is interviewing for medical school, and this is her first interview, so anything to keep the stress level down!

The flight times she needs are only at SFO or Sacramento (not available into Oakland at those times), so I guess we will go with Sacramento and the shuttle service. Thanks again, all.

The drive from Sacramento to Vallejo is pretty relaxed. The drive from SFO to Vallejo isn’t that bad either, so long as she avoids rush hour traffic!
